The Pistons and the Knicks were two of the worst offenders for the horribleness that NBA was to become, and the beautiful justice of the era was watching the Bulls defeat those teams soundly with finesse and skill.  Just seeing Pat Riley pull his hair out was worth it.  I remember the year without MJ the Bulls met the Knicks in the playoffs and after the first few games didn't go so well, Riley called a team meeting and showed them a compilation tape of Pippen and Kokoc taking each and every one of the Knicks off the dribble, and asked, "which one of you guys think you can cover Pippen or Kukoc man-to-man?"  New York won that series, but it was kind of BS.

"*ahem* 91-98 was as good as it got"

You're kidding, right? That was the NBA's nadir. The finals between the Knicks and the Rockets was when I checked out for good, because all the NBA had to offer was slam dunks, and battery disguised as "defense."
The '90s NBA was terrible basketball. It wasn't even basketball. It was a bunch of athletic guys trying to get on the highlight reel on SportsCenter.

*ahem* 91-98 was as good as it got, except for those who can't allow themselves to appreciate the Jordan, Jackson, and the Bulls.

I know what you're getting at, but the NBA is as good as it's been since the late 1980s.

What does the NBA have to do with basketball?
