A woman from Los Angeles who was a tree hugging, liberal Democrat and an anti-hunter purchased a piece of timberland near Colville , WA . There was a large tree on one of the highest points in the tract. She wanted a good view of the natural splendor of her land so she started to climb the big tree.
As she neared the top she encountered a spotted owl that attacked her. In her haste to escape, the woman slid down the tree to the ground and got many splinters in her crotch. In considerable pain, she hurried to a local ER to see a doctor .
She told him she was an environmentalist, a Democrat, and an anti-hunter and how she came to get all the splinters. The doctor listened to her story with great patience and then told her to go wait in the examining room and he would see if he could help her. She sat and waited three hours before the doctor reappeared.
The angry woman demanded, "What took you so long?" He smiled and then told her, "Well, I had to get permits from the Environmental Protection Agency, the Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management before I could remove old-growth timber from a 'recreational area' so close to a waste treatment facility. I'm sorry, but due to Obama-Care they turned you down."
A man is lost in the California desert with only a rifle in his possession. In order to avoid starving to death, he shoots the only wildlife he encounters, a California condor. He is rescued, but brought up on charges by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service for killing a crticially-endangered species. But at trial, the judge lets him off under the rationle he would not have survived if he had not killed and eaten the bird.
After the verdict is rendered, the judge summons the defendant to the bench for a private conversation.
"You're probably going to be the only person I ever meet who can answer this question, but what does California condor taste like?"
"It's kind of a cross between spotted owl and piping plover."

It seems the method of politics is to skirt around the issue and focus on personal matters. It is to the point that one can not even gather facts needed for casting a vote. What I see Romney as is a democrat that turned into a repubilcan or a republican that turned into a democrat, Im not sure. He was pro abortion and pro gun control and now has flopped. He was against gay rights and now is for civil unions. WTF, just grown an opinion. Honestly on those issue (excluding gun control, Im pro second admendment) I could care less. Then when it comes to the economy and all the other issue everyone stays so wish washy that you cant pick one over the other. You might as well just vote based off some random trait like a strong jawbone. I hate them all to the point I almost want to vote for Paul. At least he stands by his crazy ideas even if they are extreme.

That is something residence of Illinois know well. Of course with the budget mess Chicago has got us into it is hard to come up with many solutions. When you raise fees you can create cashflow an still claim to have not raised taxes. Of course everyone has cars and when you raise registration fees from $78 to $100 something and DL renewals from $10 to $30 it is basicly a tax. They have raised everything from tickets to hunting premits and license. It is something people dont become inraged about because nobody realizes it at the same time. You go to the DMV and just kind of wonder when that happend.
I believe "political expedience" is the term we're looking for here.
All politicans are full of shit to some degree. Look at Clinton. Has there ever been anyone more full of shit than Clinton? But everyone knew he was full of shit, and he knew everyone knew he was full of shit. Romney is full of shit, and everyone knows he's full of shit, but Romney doesn't think everyone knows he's full of shit. Kind of a shitty attitude, if you ask me.

Dropping the N word is clearly out of line. However I like bluntness. Talking around in circles is boring. If Romney stance on poverty is that the government is currrently doing enough then I give him credit for saying it.
I could never be an elected official because I think some people just need told how it is. That usually pisses people off.
"I dont know how I feel about Romney yet. Some things I like, some I dont. I do think he is the best guy to find middle ground between the GOP and Dems."
Romney is a charlatan. When he says he balanced the budget in Massachusetts, he did it by raising fees on things that his predecessor kept low or eliminated. He didn't cut much spending.
I was kind of rooting for Romney to win the nomination because I figured the evangelicals wouldn't vote for him because he'd have seven underage wives running around the White House. But who are the bible-thumpers going to vote for in the general election? Not Obama.
So then I kind of started rooting for Gingrich because he's so crazy he's unelectable, but I thought the same thing about Reagan and he ended up beating two very sane people.
I just thought it was funny that a presidential candidate and a presumptive nominee from a major political party that has the reputation of appealing to rich people would say he doesn't worry about the very poor. It has a Marie Antoinette quality to it, even if it was taken out of context.
A few years ago, a mayoral candidate in the city which I work used the n-word at a debate. He claimed he was quoting somone else's opposition to an urban renewal program "to keep the spics and the n_____s out-of-town," but there are certain things you ought not to say when you're trying to win an election.
Without throwing my polical alliances into the dance here, I'll simply say that I find myself with no charity and very little sympathy for the exceptionally poor. In America there is always a way to find some measurement of success to keep you above that level of life. I believe that a majority of poverty in this country is self-inflicted, and that's not an ideal I support or want to encourage with my charity. This results in me becoming a very callous and stingy man. I would really love if someone could actually certify the real needy from the lazy shitheads, but you just can't do it. Any possible system I can come up would be exploited by assholes just trying to catch a free ride.
I dont know if you took offense to his comments Artie but I understand what he is saying. Why worry about the people at the very bottom who are there largely because they show no motivation. As Romney stated, they already get alot of government aid and as stated on this board in the past that might be why they stay at the level they are. Why champaign for more government aid paid for by the middle class? In fact if being middle class was more appealling maybe lowers class people would want to reach that level. As it stands now the lowers class is given alot of the same things the middle class has lost like good health insurance.
I dont know how I feel about Romney yet. Some things I like, some I dont. I do think he is the best guy to find middle ground between the GOP and Dems.
