So...Edman for Fedde and Pham. Hate to lose Edman and am not much on Pham, but I think Mo did OK on this one.

I'm sure it is. My first game was a Cards-Pirates DH during Dave Parker's rookie year, and even then I'll bet the game and experience had changed significantly by then.

June 3 Cardinals lose to Astros in Houston .
Baseball is a little different now since I watched the Cardinals play Houston as the Colt 45’s before the Astrodome was built .

It's hard to believe no team will give Bauer a shot. He's been blackballed but I'm not sure why.

Although none of us seems to care much anymore, I happened to sit at a bar that's showing Flaherty mowing down DeJong and his Blue Jays and just came here to heave a sigh. Hope everyone (spammers excluded) is well.
Cardinals/MLB » Pujols redux » 9/11/2022 4:06 pm |
I've been guilty of ragging on the club at times, often with no justification except to let loose a little snark. So I must give credit where it's due: Bringing back Pujols for his swan song season has been a tremendous success and will leave good feelings regardless of how the team does in the playoffs. Got to see him hit #696 and basically carry the team to victory last night, and after today's heroics I may just have to get down to Pittsburgh again in three weeks.

You're saying the Cardinals should be concerned because a guy hitting .109 who looks like he just played in the Little League World Series hit a home run into the upper deck off him?
Well, when you put it that way, maybe I'm just being a nervous Nellie.

I am finally able to actaully watch the games reg. I enjoy this team's make up honestly. Idk that they are good enough to make it deep in thr playoffs but they are respectable.
The addition of Montgomery and Quintana turned their rotation from a liability into an asset IMO. Super moves. And Pujols has generated far more excitement than I could have hoped for. This team could make some noise.
Anyone notice that Oakland cut Piscotty a week ago and that he's signed a minor league contract with the Reds?

If anyone still gives a shit and has also been watching the games, what's up with all the lost baserunners lately? Has the team gotten extra aggressive or just sloppy at times?

How many wins have egregious bullpen failures cost Wainwright over the years, likely denying him his 200th? Besides last night's fiasco, I'll never forget the Kyle McLellan implosion that cost Waino a 20-win season years ago. I'd bet he's lost at least five wins after turning seemingly-"safe" leads over to the 'pen. Of course this happens with every team and starter but he seems to have been victimized frequently over the years by stiffs like Ver Hagen along with generally reliable relievers. Focusing on Waino's and Pujols' career stats is my feeble attempt at blocking out grievances like the long history of regrettable misfires that have kept the Cardinals from ever having an elite pitching staff...trading Alcantara for fucking Ozuna being currently top of mind. Guess it isn't working. Rant over.
EDIT: My "tinypic" matches my mood perfectly!

This offense is suddenly pathetic.

Nice! I hope it's enjoyable.
Also, in the interest of curbing message inflation, I'll just ask here if "Liberatore" is Italian for "Hit this out"?

Love watching games in person. I wish it wasn't such a hassle. I also wish baseball wasn't dead. My girls like the people watching not the game. I got it. I don't think anyone watches the game because they like the small games inside the game. It seems like it is just the novelty of going and posting it to fb.
I'm going to the Friday and Sunday games in a couple of weeks when the Cardinals are at Fenway Park. The Red Sox almost never offer promotions or discounts, but they had some sort of promotion this week that if you bought tickets to see the Reds or the Orioles, you got a voucher for a discounted ticket to another game involving a good opponent. I bought my tickets back in February or March, before the discount was offered, but that's a good thing. I can't imagine going to that dump of a ballpark with no parking and shitty access to the shittiest public transit system in any major city in North America to see two shitty teams in which I don't have a rooting interest.

Hmm I wonder how that works. It almost has to mean o niel is going down. There isn't enough playing time to go around with another bat.
Or maybe they've had enough of Pujols.

Cardinals/MLB » Pham being Pham » 4/20/2022 5:51 pm |
Phuck Pham. Voit, perhaps clumsily, was trying to separate ball from mitt while getting to the plate. So he'd be, ya know...safe instead of out.

Albert better be able to pitch an inning or two.
And let me guess...Matz to the DL (or whatever it's called now) after this game.

I think it works. In the short term. However you are adding alot of innings onto your pen. You better have some breathing room in the minors if you are going to give the bullpen 30 starts a year.
That's always been my concern with bullpen games. On the other hand, given how teams tend to stick with the same 3 or 4 relievers in most cases, the BP games could provide opportunities to get the guys who spend every game napping in the 'pen some action.

If DeJong is the every day shortstop instead of Sosa, I'm going to lose my mind.If she is anything like my ex wife I'd say the surgery was strictly exploratory.

I was hoping he'd sign with Colorado and at least catch A-Rod if not reach 700 HR. Can't see either of those happening in St Louis, but he still might generate some excitement. Whatever happened to that personal services deal with Moreno?
