You lucky, lucky man. Cards or Angels?

An Angels jersey would have just been cruel.

When I opened it and the people that gave it to me look over I just said, vintage.

Re: Pujols Specific Discussion

Seriously, I'd love a Pujols Cardinals jersey, especially if they are free.  I'm about a M or L.  Grab it, and I'll send money for shipping.

Re: Pujols Specific Discussion

This makes it even worst for the Angles and funny that Pujols agreed to take a 4 million pay cut.

Re: Pujols Specific Discussion

Not sure what you mean, AP, but it could be interpreted that "money isn't the most important thing, winning is".  So he took a pay cut for two years to make payroll room for Wilson.

It becomes pretty obvious that $30 million was the number Pujols equates with respect, even if it's only for a season or two. If LeBron truly cared about winning, he probably would have chosen a team that has an actual third baseman or another player with an OPS above .802 to back him up in the lineup. Who's going to hit fourth? Mark Trumbo? Vernon Wells? Torii Hunter? Chris Iannetta?

Re: Pujols Specific Discussion

By the time the Angles get over this batch of bad contract Pujols' will be the bad contract.  This backloaded deal reminds me of the statement that Fors has made about Pujols respecting Big Mac's decision to walk away from money when his career declined.  What does he expect from himself now?  To make 30mill and hit .250 at the age of 40?

Re: Pujols Specific Discussion

If I was ARod I would deffer 3 million of his currect contract to 2013 so he can be the first player paid 30 mill but I might be bitter.

I was at a New Year's party yesterday, and the host asked me what kind of public relations campaign the Cardinals' front office put out there when Albert signed elsewhere.
"Nothing. Every time Albert's wife opened her mouth, the Cardinals looked better."

Not to beat a dead horse... but has anyone noticed that since Albert signed with Anaheim, he hasnt been able to get through one single public pronouncement without bringing up the Cardinals? Not in a derogatory way, either... he did it AGAIN yesterday when he had my "God Has Arrived At Spring Training" news conference. Wonder if my old buddy VG is getting tired of that yet?

And I deny that I am preparing any Albert Bottenjols takes for Angel Fan in case Albert bombs out

He's going to regret his decision for the rest of his life. Of course, if someone gave me a check for $250 million, I'd probably figure out a way around regret.

I believe his first check ( year 1) will be less than he made in 2011 , is that right ? That may be tough on his wife ......

To me that is interesting.  I am not sure why he would allow the contract to be so backloaded.  In doing so he increased the possiblity that his contract is a burden on the team in his later lears when his production slips.  Setting up the chance that the fans turn on him for holding the team back and maybe force him to retire early.  Even taking less money and having more of it be upfront to me would have been smarter.
