Re: Yadi wins 4th Gold Glove

"Several other Cardinals were among the three finalists for a a Gold Glove at their position. They were . . . left fielder Matt Holliday."

The integrity of the Gold Glove award remains unchanged.

Sort of. The process was changed this year to delineate the outfield spots, so the voters had to pick a leftfielder, a rightfielder and a centerfielder, instead of the three best outfielders.
Taken in the context of a field that includes the likes of Raul Ibanez, Carlos Lee and Alfonso Soriano, Holliday doesn't fare too badly.

Geez, with all these Gold Gloves and Silver Sluggers the Red Sox are winning, you'd think they would have made the playoffs ...

They, and the Dodgers, are clearly the teams to beat.

Meanwhile, the gold gloves were announced with less fanfare this year than I can ever recall.  Here's a nice slideshow.  I notice that Rasmus was robbed . . . again.  A perennial shoe-in for Rookie of the Year, the Gold Glove and Silver Slugger committees pass him over like cold meatloaf at a family reunion.
