I am on board with not knowing everything that has to be done but my line of thinking is that the right decisions are being made.  Democracy my ass.  For those who say the world is becoming more socialistic I disagree.  This was straight up communism.

I agree that overall things are getting better, but with each movement forward to a more fair and just world, someone is the loser, or perceives themselves to be the loser, and they piss and moan endlessly about it, and make up all kinds of bullshit arguments about how progress is scary and dangerous.

I will get on my soap box and remind everyone that:

-Southerners were wrong about slavery.  After they were forced to end it, they pretty much agree that blacks should not be enslaved.

-Southerners were wrong about segregation.  After they were forced to end it, they pretty much agree that blacks should not be forced to use separate facilities: schools, hospitals, drinking fountains, seats on busses.

But in each case, it took them a while to realize what was best for them after they were bitch slapped into changing their wicked ways: "It was the War of Northern Aggression!  Them goddamn Northerners marched down here with guns and cannons and made us give up our slaves!  What the Hell's with those Northern sons of bitches???"

And I argue that in 100 years we will see that the conservatism that is frothing out of the South these days is just as wrong as was slavery and segregation, and the question is how much bitch slapping will be required, how many people will get hurt or die, how much money it will cost, and how long it will take. 

Things are definitely getting better AP, but right now we're still caught in the ripples caused when they were forced to give up segregation in 1965.  They get the idea that segregation was wrong, but they're still smarting from being bitch slapped into making the change, and they're still trying to get back at the rest of the country.
