I just did some very productive procrastination on Wikipedia and discovered that Wilhelm Hohenzollern, a.k.a Kaiser Wilhelm, survived WWI and took exile in Holland, where he lived in unmolested opulence well into WWII. 

Here are some of the choice quotes of this man whom Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands would not turn over to international courts for prosecution "for a supreme offence against international morality and the sanctity of treaties".

"[his abdication was the] deepest, most disgusting shame ever perpetrated by a person in history, the Germans have done to themselves . . . egged on and misled by the tribe of Judah ... Let no German ever forget this, nor rest until these parasites have been destroyed and exterminated from German soil! [He advocated a] regular international all-worlds pogrom a la Russe [as] the best cure [and further believed that Jews were a] nuisance that humanity must get rid of some way or other. I believe the best would be gas!"

Apparently Imperial Germany's unrepentant militarists survived in freedom to write an alternate history of WWI built around the 'stabbed-in-the-back' legend, that went on to be used by the Nazi's during the 1920's in their rise toward power.

Hmm . . . where else have we seen war criminals allowed to go free and write an alternative history of a heinous war, a history that aggrandizes themselves, absolves themselves from blame, and inspires an equally reprehensible political dogma that continues to poison humanity?
