Don't think any player has ever made a successful appeal........

Interesting. He seems like a good guy. I guess alittle to good.

Probably gonna go the "I didn't knowingly take.................yada, yada, yada," doesn't matter, he's ultimately responsible..............
Give the MVP to Berkman

Wow. I guess you never know.

It will be interesting to hear how this plays out.
For example, I don't know how baseball works, but in the Olympics, common cold medications count as PEDs. So there are some cases of "doping" that are complete bullshit.
But if this turns out to be some kind of steroid or hormone, baseball could be in for another black eye, as this guy was supposed to be one of the new faces of baseball.
Nevermind, I just read the story: artificial testosterone. This will take some explaining, . . . but you never know. The guy is innocent until proven a cheater.

Yeah it was a synthetic form of testosterone. I'm sure we'll get some story like "it somehow end up in my Wheaties," or "Prince gave me a pill that was supposed to be a vegetarian supplement," but those arguments generally don't work. In fact, the story said no one has successfully appealed a baseball suspension. Of course it will give baseball a pretty big black eye if one of its shining young stars (and reigning NL MVP) proves tainted, so who knows what the outcome of the appeal will be.

No one has ever won an appeal before. It would make MLB look weak to look the other way now that the story has broke. I think the ESPN story said that testosterone is created in the body at a 1:1 ratio. MLB test show positive if it is higher then 4:1.

If I were doping, I'd make sure to take both hormones in even ratios . . . duh.

" Jimmy Rollins sees spinning above drug testing. Rollins caused a bit of a stir on Twitter over the weekend when he responded to a tweet about no positive test ever being overturned with the following:
“never been overturned is ‘technically’ correct. I know of a case that no one will hear about.â€
Now who doesn’t love a good conspiracy theory? Rollins wasn’t inclined to reveal a name, naturally, but other reporters chimed in with stories of sources saying something similar – the odd reference here to a buried test, the offhanded remark there of something ignored."

conspiracy theories are the domain of the lunatic fringe as any sensible person knows that if there had been a conspiracy, human nature to blab and the free press would surely out it. Thus, the only conspiracies that have ever existed are those that have already been outed, by definition.

Rec.
That would explain the death spiral his numbers have taken since he won the MVP.

"conspiracy theories are the domain of the lunatic fringe"
And Raiders' fans.
Wait ... that may be redundant.

Hmmmm. Braun plays for the Brewers. The commissioner used to own the Brewers. Coincidence?

I am suprised. Fair is fair and if this was the just ruling I like it. I hope more details come out. I thought a positive test was guilty even if the substance wasnt taken knowingly. I would say Braun had a pretty good story or MB got weak.

From the ESPN story Fors linked: "A source says MLB is livid and is considering options and other comment."
I suppose it depends upon whether the source is Rob Manfred or some nerdy Cubs' fan who works in the mail room at Wrigley Field.

If they are mad they should be mad at themselfs for letting a third person call the shots. The practice has always been that a player is guilty even if they claim they were given tainted substance or took it unknowingly. I am not sure how a prescribed medication would be treated as Braun seems to be claiming. I would assume MLB would expect prior approval.

Reports are that Braun won on a technicality. Apparently the courier who had possession of the sample thought the Fed Ex/Kinkos was closed so he took the sample home and stored it in his fridge until the following morning and then shipped it. Because procedure wasn't followed, Braun won. The ruling doesn't explain the testosterone levels in the sample--unless the courier was storing testosterone in his fridge.
Braun is as innocent as the criminal set free because the cops forgot to read him his rights.

Really!?! I understand Braun's complaint and again I believe MLB should be mad at itself. Storing it at home next to the eggs is not acceptable. Did it taint the sample? Likely not but still if there is a right way to do things then that is what should be expected. It is to bad that Braun got away with a violation. Now he is going to cry about being wronged.

Bingo. I don't have an issue with the outcome. If MLB failed to follow the required procedure then shame on them. But there have been a bunch of athletes taking to Twitter proclaiming the outcome proves Braun's innocence. Bullshit.
