"Also the Cardinals are on Ryan Mason's list of teams."
PLEASE tell me you mean Ryan Madsen, the closer/reliever I've been begging for since Philly decided to ditch in favor of Pappelbon (which in my mind was a monumental mistake). That would make this a highly successful offseason in my opinion. Again, having him and Motte to close down ballgames makes us VERY difficult to beat.

Yeah that is the dude.
I think Brad Lidge is also still out there.

Yeah, I've been drooling over Madson all offseason. I would LOVE to have him in a Redbird uniform.
ref. Post #7, #67, #70 on
I think he's going to cost us 10M a season, will that quell the "cheapass" debate of Dewitt? Beltran + Madson = Pujols salary, and he added Romero.

Reds got Madson

I heard. 8.5 million for one season... God that's cheap, wish we'd gotten him.

Wow. I guess the market for him did dry up. I owe someone an apology.

If that is what he got no team would have went wrong by signing him, including the Cardinals.

The PD story on Motte reminds me of why I think they need bullpen help. I think Kerry Wood is the man for the job. He has closed but doesnt expect to be signed as a closer. I doubt the FO see things the way I do because if they did they would have resigned Dotel.

They need to have a backup plan. Motte's been the closer for what, two months? I wouldn't mind Wood as a setup guy, but they have enough of those from the right side and I don't want him as a closer because he has no balls.
I wouldn't give up on Lynn. I know he has no experience and they eventually see him in the rotation, but it seems like there's not a lot that bothers him when he's out there.

Reading Strauss today, he seemed to suggest that it was a foregone conclusion that McClellan wouldn't be back. The assumption is that he'll be moved because his stint as a starter might make him too expensive to be a set-up man.
I really wish they'd have brought Dotel back.

It was good to read that Jordan Swagerty got an invite to the major league camp. He's probably going to land in Springfield to start, but keep your eye on him. Spicoli doesn't throw hard, but he gets people out. And he oozes testosterone.

I agree with both points. Really McClellan needs to go. He isnt as good as his numbers suggest. Those are the perfect guys t trade. Boggs might as well be shipped off as well. He has been the odd man out enough to tell he isnt going to fit. Id still be interested to see what a group of Boggs, McCellan and Jay would bring.

Rec.
Speaking of real Cardinals' fans, I hope we finally didn't run off Max. He might be a pain in the ass sometimes, but he's our pain in the ass.

Does anyone? My boss works from about 10:30-2:30, with an hour for cocktails in the middle, but I don't think that counts.

I was dead beat tired at 10:30 with the goal of being off at 11. 10:45 I get a call of a guy passed out in his car in the middle of the road. He is shitfaced and has puked and took a crap in the road. By the time I got done with paperwork and everything I dont get home till 2 and am not tired at all. Great times and happy birthday to me.

Sounds like this guy started celebrating your birthday a little early.
I don't know why, but I have to ask--did he shit himself or did he actually drop his pants and take a shit in the middle of the road. If it's the latter, that's awesome. I've been drunk plenty, but never so bad that dropping a duece in the middle of the road seemed like a good idea.
BTW- Happy birthday.

I was second on scene. The other officer was waiting for me because the guy was slumped in the seat sleeping one off. It was directly in the middle of his lane. The car was a stick shift and he had his foot on the gas. I opened the door and reached for the key but couldnt find it. My dumbass did this from the drivers side. When he woke up he tried to put the thing in gear. Thank god he got the message or else I might have been dragged up the road. Lesson learned! Once that was over I noticed a pile of puke in the middle of the road and some fastfood wrappers. I didnt think much of it till the other officer said "he fucking shit". Just off the fog line was a pile of shit. I mean a pile! He didnt even use his car for concealment. Popped a squat just behind the bumper of his car. I had him in the backseat of my car with the heat on while I spoke to the other officer outside. When I returned to the car the thing smelled like a shitter at the county fair. Fast food wrappers much not clean the effected area very well. In his defense whiskey makes me shit to. He was actually a normal, polite guy. Just having a tough day. I tried not to make it much more worst then I had to.

Oh and this all happend on a county highway in the middle of nowhere. All he had to do was hit a side road, puke his guts out, shit his brains out and sleep it off.
