    Spring Training Games

    According to Jenifer Langosch here is how the Cardinals open against the Marlins today:
    3/5 .

    1.Skip Schumaker (RF)
    2.Jon Jay (CF)
    3.Matt Holliday (LF)
    4.Carlos Beltran (DH)
    5.Yadier Molina (C)
    6.Matt Adams (1B)
    7.Tyler Greene (2B)
    8.Daniel Descalso (3B)
    9.Alex Cora (SS)

    Pitchers: Kyle Lohse, Brandon Dickson, Trevor Rosenthal, Nick Greenwood, Joe Kelly, R.J. Swindle, Victor Marte, John Gast

    The 3 guys vying for the 2nd base job are all in the line-up at different positions

    "As for the rest of the week, Matheny has already laid out all the pitching assignments. Jake Westbrook is scheduled to start Tuesday's game, with Shelby Miller (Wednesday) and Jaime Garcia (Thursday) also set. The most anticipated outing, though, will come on Friday, when Adam Wainwright takes the mound in Fort Myers in his first game action since September 2010".------Langosch

    ... and the rally falls one run short.
    Looking at the box score, Dickson got knocked around for three runs in two innings, and Lohse gave up a solo homer, so he's already in mid-season form.
    The Cardinals had three hits through eight. The kids put together a 3-run rally in the ninth.

    I hate watching sport that have been taped.  I cant not check th box scores and then that ruins it.  To watch a taped game it has to have some meaning.

    I don't like it either, and I can't DVR a regular season game. But I don't care as much about the score of a ST game. I'm more apt to watch to see players I haven't seen. I wish Miller was getting the start today instead of Westbrook. I've only ever seen clips of Miller.

    I the same way.  Spring training is interesting because you want to see some of the younger players.  Even watching guys like Holliday, Berkman or Beltran doesnt interest me.  For them I just kind of watch the box scores hoping they get the rust beatoff before the season opener and dont get hurt.  I think wainwright pitches this week.  Id kind of like to see how his stuff has recovered.  I dont even want to see Westbrook in a regular season game.

    The good thing about Westbrook is he works quickly. One of the reasons I hated Cementhead was because as soon as he'd let a runner on base (usually the first batter), he'd slow down his pace. There's nothing worse in baseball than watching a lousy pitcher taking 20 minutes to get through a half-inning.

    Yeah, Cleto gave up three earned and allowed as many baserunners as he retired.
    Adams just checked in with a grand slam to give the good guys a 6-5 lead in the seventh.
