Well... Pitching change, Marte in. Get us clear of the 5th with a tie, and we'll go to the pens.

I hate slappies.

well 4 innings to play, bullpen against bullpen, and I have to think we hold an advantage there. Let's do it Cardinals.

Not to sound knee-jerky, but neither Greene or Komatsu are MLB players.

I don't know if they can carry Komatsu for the whole year. Maybe he'll get the Hector Luna Flu.

Nice game, Bray.

Any possibility of trading Holliday for Rasmus, or you think we'd have to give up draft picks?

Chapman is a much better pitcher when he doesn't have one eye on the radar gun.

Boy Chapman does not have a good move to first.
This one is over. Two out of three isn't bad though.

OK, Matheny, don't over-manage it here.

Damn.

The Reds are a pathetic bunch in every way. Love the hopping around in the dugout because you won one game.

5-2 on the road against some pretty good teams doesn't suck.

I'm glad the EI feed was cut before I saw that.

I guess it's not surprising. When the extent of your success over the past 21 years has been reaching the playoffs twice and getting no-hit, a walk-off win in the first week of the season is an oasis in the desert.

Didn't realize there was an early day game - darn! Wonder why they didn't play Freese?

I like how Komatsu puts in a long at bat. Still I agree that he cant stick with this team. Greene still looks like shit. They cant waste to much time on him. Plus he looks alot like Theriot.

I have never seen hitters look that bad. They were spinning themself in the ground.

"I have never seen hitters look that bad."
Maybe Randy Johnson. The A's had a lefty named Vida Blue back in the '70s who was just pure filth. He'd bust you in with a 98 mph heater and then break off a nasty curve that would buckle your knees. And even though I never saw Koufax, trying to hit him must have been a bitch.
For righties, Nolan Ryan made a lot of good hitters look very foolish for a very, very long time. And starting with his last year in Montreal, Pedro Martinez had four seasons when he was practically unhittable. In 2000, Pedro's WHIP was 0.737. That's astonishingly low.

Pedro is the most filthy pitcher of the past 40 years. It was unfair how good he was.

Yadi, Freese and Furcal are pretty good contract hitters and they didnt even come close. I see why Red Fans are excited about this guy.
