Rain, rain and more rain as of 10:55 CST

Understand that the rage in this post is at least partly fueled by the fact that I typically count on Opening Day for a free lunch.
Every year since the opening on the new ballpark, we have a client function in which we invite clients who are going to Opening Day to come by the firm for a happy hour-like gathering during which the firm provides a ball park atmosphere. The event is held in a large conference room overlooking the stadium and typically includes catering of ballpark food--hot dogs, brats, nachos, etc...
I just went down to grab lunch and I walk in the conference room and find finger sandwiches, salmon & brie quesadillas, salad and a bunch of other related crap. WTF Greensfelder? It's the Opening Day of the baseball season. It isn't the start of the cotillion season. Give me a couple of ballpark hot dogs slathered in chili and/or nacho cheese sauce and I'd be perfectly fucking happy. I don't need terriaki lamb-ka-bobs with a lime vinagrette sauce.
At least they had butter creme cookies decorated like baseballs. Otherwise I'd fucking starve.
Rant over.

Game time moved back to 3:45

Still raining. In fact, it's raining as hard as it has rained all day.

The worst has moved through, but they should definitely be able to squeeze in a 3:45 start. Tarp is off the field.

There's still nothing better than seeing the Hall of Famers. Gibson still looks intimidating.
The guy who could have been a part of this process if he could have managed to live on only $210M over 10 years went 1 for 4 and grounded into a double play today.

It's not about the money, Fors.
Hey cool they got Edmonds out there. Where the hell did they find Glenn Brummer???

I wonder if they'll let the Cubs bring out all their World Series trophies?

Of course it wasn't. Back in 60s, Gussie Busch must've given Musial a 50 year personal services contract after a 45 minute conversation.

Funny enough, this was an overall improvement on his season stats to date....
It's okay though, he's hitting .250 at the money machine too.

Its pretty cool to see the players stop and spend alittle extra time on their hand shake with Stan. I wonder if that is how it will be for Pujols in 50 years in LA.
The bald eagle was pretty awesome to.

Schoendiest looks amazing. It's easy to forget he's about the same age as Musial. He must have the Fountain of Youth in his basement.
ETA- I'm re-watching the introductions. Kids got home from school and wanted to watch.
Did I miss them bringing out the Cubs' trophies yet?

They called Shane Robinson a pitcher.

This is going to be a long day. Go get 'em tomorrow.

Wainwright doesn't look right. I think it's going to be a month or so before he gets back to normal.

I didn't get to see all that. All I'm getting is crappy baseball.

Yeah, I have been looking forward to this game all week. I am off today and we are having fish, fried pickles and fries. The beer taste good to. All I am missing is a enjoyable baseball game. Maybe the Cardinals should have stayed on the road or Wainwright said in Florida.

Some guy named O'Hare or LaHare taking about three minutes to round the bases like he's the second coming of Lou Gehrig ...

Go out in the yard and try a rain dance.

Can Freese come up with a clutch hit once in awhile?!?

We didnt get much rain hear but we need some. I mowed the yard. I guess I should have washed the truck to. Those two things normally cause rain.

It is pretty bad when it is opening day in STL and the Cards are playing the Cubs and I am checking to see if anyone has posted on the baseball threat that turned into a food thread that turned in to political thread.

Someone tell Adam Wainwright to stop pitching like Matt Morris from five years ago.
