Re: Anyone but the Yankees thread

"Bill Simmons thinks this is a re-hash of the 2007 ALCS"

Because everything is about the stupid Red Sox. Felger and Massarotti spent 45 minutes this afternoon discussing how the renovation of Fenway Park's bullpen will impact J.D. Drew's psyche.

Re: Anyone but the Yankees thread

Blech. Massarotti has a radio show? Did the station call Shaughnessey and he was too busy getting a perm? What a joke.

Shank is a regular on Friday during the 10-2 shift, with Scott Zolak and the guy who needs to blow his nose.
Mazz is the sane one on his show. Felger has been alternating between patting himself on the back for the past week for running Moss out of town and calling out Zdeno Chara for being a sissy. As marginally as I follow the NHL, I still know enough to know that Chara craps bigger than some dorky talk show host.

I know the post-season isn't supposed to be a factor, but if Buster Posey isn't NL Rookie of the Year ...

Scott Zolak? I haven't heard that name since Tecmo Super Bowl.

Not worth much but Sporting News has Heyward as their ROY . Like I say not worth much .

Yeah, Zo kind of built a cult following during his years as Parcells' valet, and he hasn't gone away. The show is lame except on Fridays, when the fan boys call to harass Shank. The morning show on that station is the real draw. The "Ask a Pink Hat" and the "Drunken Red Sox/Celtics Recap" segments are the funniest radio I've ever heard.

I can live with Heyward, but Posey is already the best position player on a division winner, playing the toughest position.
The rest of it is tough to argue with, except for the paltry 13-game winner as the AL Cy.

Re: Anyone but the Yankees thread

Dallas/Fort Worth and San Francisco are both pretty decent sized markets, but anyone else think that FOX is cringing at the idea of a Rangers/Giants series?

You're looking at this negatively.

I'd say. As much as I love watching Cliff Lee and Tim Lincecum, I don't think the public at large does as much.

I guess that the public at large would be hard pressed to name 10 players on the 2 rosters combined.  Although I'm sure the network would milk the crap out of the Josh Hamilton story

I guess I would enjoy the milking if it mean't the Yuckees were dismissed .

Add ALCS MVP to the milking .

Hey, did you hear that the Rangers don't spray champagne on Hamilton. They spay ginger ale instead. See, Hamilton is a recovering addict, so they don't spray alcohol. BTW, did you know Hamilton is a recovering addict?  I think he had a drug problem. Maybe an alcohol problem. Maybe both.

Hey, did you hear they sprayed ginger ale instead of champagne?

Hopefully Bill Simmons will be able to find a way to compare this to something Sox-related.

Giants & Rangers - who else thinks the Giants will blow out the Rangers?

BTW - what's up with Wilson's died black beard? He looks like a cartoon character (embarrassed)

Re: Anyone but the Yankees thread

Interesting is the story Yahoo is running.  Molina will get a WS ring no matter who wins the WS because he is a current player on the Rangers and spent most of the season with the Gaints.

He will. Neither franchise has won a WS in its current city, so there must be a curse involved. That's how people who root for teams that don't win for several generations explain away failure, and how my mother-in-law explains why she hasn't found a husband since she put the last one in the grave.

Wilson is just plain weird. Most likely because he's from New Hampshire. The gene pool in the Cement Head state is pretty shallow.

Not sure they can do it, but I'll pull for an Am. League team for the first time in a good while .

Based on your descriptions of your MIL, death was probably the only way to find peace and quiet.
