I can understand a position player being out there playing hurt , but not so much a pitcher , who can really just end up aggravating it, especially if it's arm trouble ....

That sucks. There isnt anyone who can take his place. This is like watching them put the tarp up on the track at a horse race.

A second look at the the more specific speeds shows that Garcia was lacking velocity, and as he pitched into the game his velocity dipped further. He had a fastball clocked at 87 mph in the second inning. He also hasn't had the best location or command. The two walks in the first inning became an issue when he also allowed a runner to score on a wild pitch. In the second inning, that 1-2 curveball to Maxwell hung deliciously over the middle of the plate and up. Maxwell put it over the Crawford Boxes.

Milo's call on that one was priceless. "Fly ball ... Maxwell back ... he won't get it ... because it's over the fence."
I've never heard an announcer refer to the team he covers as "we" and "us" so frequently. I think he thinks he's really a part of the team.

... with an elbow that's already been surgically repaired. You'd like to think they didn't send him out there if he was hurt, but considering what you guys observed and the Cardinals' track record with injuries, it makes you wonder.
If he made an injury worse by pitching last night, that's unconscionable.

Joe Kelly should get the call if Garcia goes down. He's walking fewer batters, gets tons of ground balls and has allowed all of two home runs in 72 AAA innings.

Looks like Trevor Rosenthal and John Gast are having good ears in double A as well. I wonder how soon they are projected to reach Memphis.
