We don't have an NBA thread, which is one of the things I like about this board, but I found this story interesting. Don't bother reading the entire article, it's mostly there for attribution. Here's the skinny: Stern goes on Rome's show. Rome asks Stern if the draft lottery was rigged. Apparently, the New Orleans franchise was a ward of the league while the lottery took place, and the #1 pick ended up with New Orleans. This is not the first time the NBA has been accused of tilting the lottery. There are conspiracy theories about how the Knicks ended up with the first pick the year Patrick Ewing came out of college.
Anyway, who is the least insufferable party here? Rome is everything wrong with journalism. He's an unrepentant self-promoter who confuses testosterone with integrity. But Stern is pure evil. Seriously. I wouldn't be surprised that his autopsy revealed he had that pink slime depicted in Ghostbusters running through his veins instead of blood. If Rome wasn't a public figure, Stern's next call wouldn't have been to Stephen A. Smith. It would have been to a hit man to put out a contract on Rome.
