Re: 6/20 GC @ Detroit

Should we take wagers when The Inevitable Westbrook Meltdown will occur?
I've got the fifth.

Re: 6/20 GC @ Detroit

Why is it so hard for people to pronounce "Descalso?"

Re: 6/20 GC @ Detroit

Lot of groundballs by both pitchers in this game as Schu runs down a long fly ball  -) (jinx coming)

Re: 6/20 GC @ Detroit

I know there were two outs, but that's Matt Adams running, Jose. And with Holliday on deck.

Yeah, and he blew out a tire rounding third.

Indians 5, Reds 0, through 4 1/2. Asdrubal Cabrera went deep again.

Re: 6/20 GC @ Detroit

Westbrook at 81 pitches , he might make 7 .......
Course then there's the bullpen factor ....

Re: 6/20 GC @ Detroit

What's the riskier move here? Sending Westbrook out after he's been sitting for 15 minutes to face the top of the order, or turning this one over to the blowpen?
The garbage run right there probably gave Westbrook a longer leash, but be careful here ...

Are you suggesting Motte is an asshole?

He must have just got under it because it flew off the bat.

Maybe it is because Holliday is only batting .221 with ISP.  Still I would say a s a general rule with two outs, on a ball hit like that and a guy like Adams running you dont send him with the heart of the order due up.

I know you can't do this, but Holliday hit a double down the line to lead off the next inning. As weak as his RISP numbers are for the season, he was 7-for-his-last-11 coming into the game. And Beltran had already extended his hit streak to 12 games. I don't have a problem with Oquendo being aggressive, but there's a difference between aggressive and reckless.

Westbrook reacted like it was a home run, too. With the benefit of hindsight, Comerica is a good park for him. He doesn't have to worry about every mistake being hit out of the yard, so he doesn't nibble as much.

Yeah that is why I put it if the way I did.  You got to figure your 3/4/5 hitteres are there to drive in a runs.  If the runner is Tyler Greene maybe you risk it.  At least I would because Greene would have scored standing up.  However Adams was running and he is fat.

Did you ever consider the effect Adams trying to come to a sudden stop could have on the Earth's rotational spin.  Instead of 24 hour days, we might have found ourselves with 63 hour days.  Think of the effect on farmers, on businesses that sell all-day passes.  Think of all the work unions would have trying to define the new work day.

Oquendo was simply trying to avoid an apocolypse.

Not necessarily a bad thing. I've spent 63 hours in line at Disney World waiting for my turn on the Space Mountain.
