Great. Babe LeHair representing the tying run.
Johnson to pinch-hit. They've got this. You can't hit five homers and lose. You just can't.

I guess we have to consider it a small win that Johnson only hit it 395 feet.

Jay has ahd two bullets hit to him this inning. Salas served up the first on and now Scrabble. Please tell me Motte can go today?

They have another guy who throws hard that can pitch the 9th.

Pitching around a .194 hitter ...

Not the worst idea I've ever heard.

Even Jay couldn't believe those last two pitches weren't called strikes.

OK, who hacked AP's account. This has to be the first time he's ever asked for Motte in a save situation. (happy)

This is one of the sloppiest baseball games I've seen in awhile.

Agreed. Give Rosenthal a shot here. The bottom of the Cubs order isn't much better than a AA lineup anyway. If he gets into trouble, then go to Motte.

Motte is up.

Get 'em Motte ...

I can't look it up, but I don't know if Motte has ever thrown 3 days in a row.

Here we go ...
I have a bad feeling about this inning.
Fortunately, I don't think Sveum has much left in the cupboard.

Valbuena gets his first hit since...when?

Got a break on strike three to Mather.

Indeed. I don't think they win tomorrow or Sunday.

They have to at least win this series. I know Samardja and Maholm have been pitching very well, but if the Cardinals seriously want to make a run at getting back into this thing, they have to get at least 2 of 3 against a 5th place team.

No doubt about that. I still don't have faith that this team can get on a run.
I really hope the next two games are blowouts, or Matheny trusts someone else with the ninth. Motte just pitched his 45th inning after throwing 68 last year. And there's still two months to go.

Yeah it has got that bad in the pen. I knew Boggs wasnt an option. Hopefully tomorrow is a blowout in the Cardinals favor because Boggs and Motte could both use some rest. Motte cant even pitch tomorrow unless Dusty Baker is filling in a manager.

I have got alittle faith going. They have won what 8 of there last 10. That isnt bad but the Reds have got to lose some. If the ball is traveling like it was today, anything can happen. I agree on Motte but his MHP were still up there today. I was suprised. I think it read 99 on one pitch. Broxton would be a nice addition but i doubt that will happen.
