OK, so he clocked Molina twice. Frankly I am surprised they would even consider Wigginton, as I recall a lot of negative sentiment about him among Cardinal Nation, similar to what is felt for Janey Cueto and her high heels.I recall some animosity toward Wigginton as well, but there's a huge difference between crashing a catcher and kicking a guy in the head. There's a huge difference between just about anything and kicking a guy in the head.
Hard to say. As La Russa said, Molina left a path to the plate open. If Wigginton had chosen a hook slide, he'd have beateb the throw and scored. He chose to run into an unprotected guy with his shoulder, even though it cost his team a run and an out. What kind of a violent asshole is that? The kind that belongs in jail, IMO.

Maybe Wigginton will get injured in spring training and we wont have to watch such a "violent asshole" play for the Cardinals. Better yet, maybe the Cardinals should release him but they dont eat Wigginton size contract.

Or playing linebacker for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Or playing linebacker for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Or playing wide receiver for the New England Patriots (Stallworth). Or cornerback (Talib). Or cornerback (Meriweather). Or defensive tackle (Haynesworth).

Or Randy Moss, or Brandon Spikes, or the running back who got suspended this season for PEDs, or the other cornerback who got suspended this season for PEDs.
Today's excuse is the poor weather conditions last night. Which only the Patriots had to contend with. The 49ers had the advantage of playing on a dry field with dry footballs when they were on offense last night.
It's just so unfair.

Jim Bowden said the Cardinals had one of the Top 3 offseasons. Since I have as much regard for Bowden as I do Bowa, I'm preparing now for 80 wins.

By doing nothing? I am not disappointed because I didnt expect much but how do you get ranked 3rd by inking a bench player and LOOGY?

Must be a dry powder thing.

So, I take it the Cardinals are done. They aren't going to sign Scott Hairston and unless they swing a deal for a shortstop not on the roster, it looks like we'll see this in 2013:
SP: Wainwright, Carpenter, Lynn, Westbrook, Garcia
RHP: Motte, Boggs, Mujica, Salas, Kelly
LHP: Scrabble, Choate
Freese, Furcal, Descalso, Craig, Molina
Beltran, Jay, Holliday
Descalso, Kozma, Wigginton, Cruz, Carpenter, Robinson

Also, I'm surprised that there was no interest in Polanco. This team has a lot more faith in Kozma than is deserved.

And Delscalso. I wouldnt mind them taking Ronny Cedeno if he came cheap. Id rather see him play everyday at SS then Kozma.

Must be a dry powder thing.
Let me game it:
They are pretending to store up dry powder in an effort to extend Wainwright. Then they'll make a last minute offer for fewer years than he is expected to command, with an AAV about 20% under the expected market rate, and call it a fair offer. Afterwards, they'll wait until he becomes a free agent, retract the first offer, and resubmit with half as many years and a slightly higher AAV. Then they'll incrementally up their offer until, in a "surprise" move, Wainwright signs somewhere else, Mozbag departs hurriedly from the winter meetings, BDW, Jr. issues a short statement saying the club did everything they could to resign Wainwright, and then they wait around for Wainwright and his wife to explain to the fan base that the FO disrespected them with a nine figure contract. Cardinal Nation chokes on their Budweiser and decides Wainwright has been a lying hypocrite and the team is better off without him.

Decent plausibility factor until you get to the part about the fan base deciding he and is wife are lying hypocrites. Of course I live 2,000 miles away, but I don't even know if Wainwright is married, and I'm sure I've never heard him address his contract situation publicly.

He's married and has at least two kids. I know this because in Spring Training 2011 he came to camp in shape after eating his wife's fried chicken and drinking sweet tea all winter.
And there's a picture of him with one of his kids at Pappy's Smokehouse here in St. Louis. He's a big fan of ribs.

So he doesn't have his own restaurant and radio station? How weird.

They may also have a lot more faith in Furcal's elbow than is deserved. I have a hard time seeing him as a productive player for the Cardinals in 2013. If I were to make a prediction, I'd say the big in-season story this year will be the need to acquire a shortstop before the non-waiver trade deadline.

Completely agree. I think the focal point of the offseason should have been acquiring a healthy shortstop and moving Furcal to second base. That way if he gets hurt you're falling back on Descalso. Now if Furcal gets hurt you're falling back on Descalso AND Kozma.
So he doesn't have his own restaurant and radio station? How weird.
I agree.
Also, I'd like to take this opportunity to let you know if you're ever in St. Louis again you must stop by Pappy's. Any time I bring Pappy's into a discussion I make a point to stress that a person must go.

Pappy's is Bob's favorite place to eat. You definitely keep your hands to yourself, lest he confuse one of your fingers for a rib. Fantastic barbecue.

I've eaten there four times in the past six months and I don't think I've spent less than $30 on any occasion.

Lohse was on 590 this morning and basically said the Cardinals weren't very straightforward with him about not bringing him back and that he knew he wasn't coming back when Westbrook was re-signed. He also shot down any notion that he would be back because neither he or Boras has talked to Mozeliak since the end of the season.

"the Cardinals weren't very straightforward with him about not bringing him back"
How so? Was there ever any indication from the FO that they would even try to bring him back?
