Wild Card Gamecrap

Great idea. Playing in Green Bay at night in January.

Re: Wild Card Gamecrap

Vikings are sunk.  Joe Webb had one good drive that was mostly just handing the ball to Peterson.  It is over now.

Re: Wild Card Gamecrap

I thought Webb might give them a little bit of an edge because the Packers hadn't prepared for him. But since that first drive they've been loading the box and daring the Vikings to throw.

Sorry the Vikings lost, AP. Peterson had a great year.

Re: Wild Card Gamecrap

I had two acts to check out.  Saw the highlights from the bar.

Speaking of which, that TX A&M QB is really something.  Those were some highlights against OK.

The vikings should have figured that out and attempted to throw the ball alittle.  Webb was helpless.  He couldnt complete dump passes or even come within 5 yard of a WR.  Peterson did have an awesome year.  There were a couple stories on the internet of a Green bay bar "cleverly" taunting Peterson by showing a sign that pointed out how long 9 yars were.  That is kind of like dissing a team for going 16-1.

Doesn't Wisconsin have the highest per capita beer consumption in the country? Peterson shouldn't get upset at being taunted by a bunch of drunks who are willing to wear a plastic cheese wedge as a hat in public.

I'm rooting for the Colts today, if only because I can't stand another week of the Ray-Lewis-is-retiring story line.

Shanahan should be fired before he even gets on the bus.

Agreed. Listening to Buck describe Dr. Andrews concern about RGIII's knee, he had no business being on the field.

On the bright side, maybe the Rams will get a really good pick from the Redskins in 2014 after Griffin misses the 2013 season.

Think of all the people he can kill now that he will have more time on his hands.

That's unfair, AP. He just held their coats and gave them a limo ride after they killed those two guys. Ray Lewis is practically a saint.

Re: Wild Card Gamecrap

I went Colts +7 on Sunday and don't really know what I was thinking. Andrew Luck was a pretty mediocre quarterback and the rest of the team is borderline awful. Maybe I was putting too much thought into the Ravens' injuries and Joe Flacco being unimpressive, but I look like a fool for that pick.

Of course, the Sports Douche got on his podcast yesterday to say that Luck's receivers let him down. Three batted passes and 5-15 for 51 yards and three sacks when being pressured. At no point on Sunday did he come close to playing decently. He is so far behind Griffin and Wilson that I continue to be puzzled when his name is mentioned in the same breath.

There were quite a few drops in that game. I don't know if Luck is going to be a great quarterback, but he could have gotten more help on Sunday.
In an overall sense, the dual threat quarterback has gone in and out of style for 40 years, since Bobby Douglass and Billy Kilmer, and they tend to have short shelf lives. We've seen the best of Michael Vick, and we may have seen the best of RG3 if his second knee injury is serious. Running quarrterbacks eventually get creamed in the NFL, but the one type of QB that's held up over time is a pocket passer who can throw accurately.

Re: Wild Card Gamecrap

Yeah, I basically agree, though I think Wilson is going to be the exception since he's a lot smarter about when to take off.

I haven't watched enough of the Seahawks to agree or disagree, but his body type seems like it will hold up better than RG3's or Vick's. The thing that would worry me if I were Pete Carroll and I was counting on Russell Wilson to be my QB for the next decade is the NFL is very good at adapting to new things. I'm sure there's a head coach or a D-coordinator ought there working on a blueprint that will limit Wilson's effectiveness. I just wouldn't count on Jeff Fisher being the guy who comes up with it.

Re: Wild Card Gamecrap

Wilson played his worst game against the Rams, and if not for Craig Dahl (being Craig Dahl) and Trumaine Johnson dropping an interception in the end zone the Rams might win in Week 17. They gave him fits this season.
