Brady signs new deal

So he supposedly gives New England a cut-rate deal of $27m/3 that will probably keep the Patriots from going over the salary cap until 2017. I know Tommy Boy could play for free because Gisele makes more money in a weekend than Brady will make in an entire football season, but does it strike anyone else as odd that the Patriots have never had to release a single productive player to keep them from going over the salary cap ceiling? I'm sure they'd never do anything dishonest like keep two sets of books.

Don't the players take voluntary paycuts because Patriot Way or some shit like that?

Re: Brady signs new deal

It wasn't nearly as cut rate as initially reported.  There was also a $30M signing bonus and the Patriots guaranteed money that previously wasn't guaranteed.  I don't think sainthood is in Brady's future.

It's not sainthood, but you're close. I think some of the fan boys would like for him to be a priest to their altar boy and they could play "salute the bishop" together, if you get where I'm going.

What generally happens is they let you know what they'll pay you, and if you don't accept it, you get branded as selfish and greedy and shipped off to Kansas City or Oakland or Buffalo.
