Week 10 Gamecrap

Only a handful of games until the playoffs start.

Smell the Glove is looking to win their sixth straight game after pulling a horse shoe out of their collective asses against the Express last weekend. They'll be matched up against APRTW, who are without Aaron Rodgers this week.

The Athol Marauders face Fors' co-worker, who has lost four straight.

Fors, winner of three straight, goes up against the Grammas, who have three players on a bye.

Finally, the Aaron Miles Express is looking to get back to .500 against Dolphin Fan.

AP, if you need a quarterback, I just released Bertt Farve. Good luck with that.

Thanks for reminding me.  I picked up Flacco and had not put him as a starter yet.  The game is tomorrow so I might have forgot.  The Falcons have a bottom of the league pass defence.  I am also counting on Jay Cutler to suck and the Vikings to sack him and pick him off a bunch.

I have a choice of either Ryan or Flacco in my other league. I'm going with Ryan. Either way, he'll be mediocre. If I play Flacco, he'll throw five picks, but if I sit him, he'll throw five TDs.
I also have Baltimore's defense. Makes for an interesting night.

A reminder to all, this is the first week of Thursday night football.  Set your lineups accordingly.

Here's a great gem from America's preeminent football writer:

Great Thursday game this week, the 6-2 Falcons and the 6-2 Ravens in Atlanta. The way the NFL schedule works -- assuming the format doesn't change in the new collective bargaining agreement -- Flacco and Ryan, should they stay on their same teams for the next decade, would meet in years three (this year), seven and 11. How odd, and sad, would it be if these good, young quarterbacks faced each other only three non-Super Bowl times?

How does the impending trade deadline work?  Does that mean no more trades for the season?  What about FA?

Free agency's open until the end of the season.

I think this is the week that Randy Moss sees his career flash before his eyes and suddenly decides to get serious, 2 TDs, 150 yards.

Jacob Tamme will break a leg on the opening snap if there is any justice in this world.

So why is it that sometimes when I try to claim a FA I have to spend "money", and other times I don't?

You only have to bid on Tuesdays. All players are available without bids on Wednesday.

King wrote an entire column without ripping the Raiders? I figured he'd throw in a shot about Chester McGlockton being overweight, just for old time's sake.

There is a deadline, after which you can't make trades.

This doesn't have anything to do with this thread, but Windy's comment about the whining coach made me think of it--anyone else see the ESPN 30 for 30 on Marcus Dupree?  Very interesting and sad story.  I always thought Barry Switzer was a Grade A prick, but how much of an asshole to you have to be to blame a bowl game loss on a kid who endures 4 separate injuries, still manages to play half the game, and amasses 239 yards rushing on 17 carries?

I got almost 20 points out of Flacco...Not bad.  It started out pretty crappy.

I remember that game vividly because of who the opponent was. Dupree was amazing. He'd run for 50 yards, limp off the field, get another body part taped or bandaged, come back five minutes later and rip off another long run.
And I don't think enough was said on that program about how good that ASU defense was. They had five guys drafted by the NFL, three of whom had long and successful careers. They were 10-0 and hadn't allowed more than 17 points before they lost their last two regular season games to Washington and U to A. And Dupree just shredded them.
I've always said the three best running backs I've ever seen are Bo Jackson, O.J. Simpson and Marcus Dupree.

Jesus AP.  I know you said your team plays shitty defense, but 170+ to Artie.  Seriously???

You screwed up, Artie, by not playing your new TE Lewis, getting only 2.5 out of Keller.  Better luck next time.

Since AP was dormi, I was thinking about benching McCoy and Vick last night on the highly remote chance they'd combine for five turnovers and I'd pull defeat out of the jaws of victory, but I decided to roll the dice.
I've never seen a fantasy player put up 49 points in a week. That's an average season for Kerry Collins.

I sucked real bad this week.  Artie could have got by with alot less.
