Hello? Anyone?
I saw the play at the plate in the top of the second. Anyone see the error before that?

At Bob's game. Haven't seen a pitch of the Cardinals game.

Well you're no help.
Carpenter made a throwing error, according to Yahoo.

We're having a Phil Cuzzi moment in 13U baseball. Other team just changed pitchers. The new pitcher still had his batting glove in his back pocket. Kid's first pitch, the home plate umpire calls a balk because the kid had the batting glove hanging out of his pocket. Pitcher takes the glove out of his pocket, runs it to the dugout and delivers his next pitch. Ump calls him for a 2nd balk because his back pocket was hanging out of his pants.
Kid threw 8 warmup pitches with that glove in his pocket. You know the ump saw it during warm ups and just couldn't wait to make that call. What a dick.

There's no way I ever thought Yadi would be leading the league in hitting this late in the season.

Is that even a balk?
99.9 percent of the umpires on the planet tell the kid to tuck in the batting glove or give it to his coach.

yeah no shit. That is crazy. I woukdnt even expect that call to be made at any level. He could have said something in warmup and after the first balk call he could have just told the kid to tuck his pocket in. I am sure the kid was trying to hurry as to not delay the game.

Westbrook's start is very positive.

I have no idea if it's a balk or not, but you have to be a giant ass to call it on a 13 year old kid without warning him.

That looked easy.

Set aside the age of the player for a minute. There's a section of the rule book devoted to what is or isn't a balk, but I always thought it was succinctly defined as an attempt to deceive a runner. I'm not sure a batting glove flapping out of a player's pocket is the baseball equivalent of 3-Card Monte.
Now bring back the notion there are kids involved, and to make a call like that, then AP is right. The umpire must be under the impression people showed up to watch him act like an smart ass.

Really??? I thought he was working on another 1-year deal. I've been mostly watching hockey, but Jackson didn't pitch badly. The home run Yadi hit was on a pretty good pitch down and in.

Then I have no idea what Young Theo is doing. I'm not sure he does either.

AP's shortchanging Theo on the math. The signing bonus is already paid. The Cubs only owe Edwin Jackson $33M after this year. Theo's a genius.
All kidding aside, I wonder if Theo thinks he can move Jackson at some point for prospects. Probably not this year, but maybe 2014 or 2015.

That is alot to pay for prospects but it makes the signing bonus understandable...lol. maybe theo figures he is going to have to eat part of the contract So he might as well do it on the front end. That is how smart theo is. He knew it was a bad contract the day he signed it.

I still say Theo's genius is the biggest baseball myth since Sidd Finch.

Theo's smart enough to keep getting baseball owners to pay him millions. That's something.
