If no one else is going to point it out, I will--how pathetic is it that the RH bat on the bench that doesn't have a defensive position to play isn't playing on a night that Matheny went with as right-handed a lineup as possible in a game where they get to use the DH. If that's not an indictment of Wigginton's lack of skill, I don't know what would be.
His veteran presence is more effective in the dugout.

The shortstop fields a double off the wall. I still hate this ballpark.

Fine. Hire him as a coach and quit playing short handed.

Argh. Freese has to put it in play.

I won't be a bit surprised of the mid-season fix this year is a starter.
When Chris Carpenter comes back, it will be like acquiring an all-star at the trade deadline without having to give up prospects.
Doh! What was a I thinking?

It should be. It's the most glaring area of need.
That and a RH bat off the bench (yes, I know Wigginton is an amazing influence on the bench, but he sucks on the field.).
Depends on how much dry powder they have. A starter and a starting position player, who could bump one of our starters into a bench role, would be nice, too.

I Kind of like saying Eric Clapton played guitar for Delaney & Bonnie. It's not inaccurate, but he did some stuff before and after, too.
Now THERE'S a reference only you know and I (and probably Max) know!
Yes, and many of us probably remember Jimi Page as a former member of the Yardbirds.

The only player they could bump to the bench is Kozma, and that doesn't really improve the bench.

Might have been a diferent inning if Molina and Holliday hadn't both swung at ball four.

Beck, Page and Clapton were all in the Yardbirds, but I don't think they were all there at the same time. I think Beck replaced Clapton, then Page joined, and then Beck left.

Now Freese hits a fly ball.

Jeff Gordon wrote a couple weeks ago how Wigginton was starting to come around because he was 3-for-8 in June.

I think it went Clapton, Beck, Page . . . but I don't care too much. In any event, it is not the band we remember Page for, nor are the Astros the team we associate Beltran with.
