7/22 Other Games Crap

It's over for Dan Haren. It might be over for the Nashnils, too.

Good thing they saved Strasburg for this year's playoff run.

Re: 7/22 Other Games Crap

McCutchen has two home runs tonight, so Bob Carpenter suggested the Nashnils should tell him tomorrow's game starts at 11 p.m. Get it? So he doesn't show up until after the game is over. Funny stuff.

And Melancon will no doubt make his 812th appearance of the season so far in the eighth. But this year is different. Clint Hurdle won't over-work the bullpen this year, like he has the last two.

If any of you are in the D.C. area on Aug. 29, Sammy Hagar is the post-game entertainment at Nashnils Ballpark.

Chris Rusin is apparently the Cubs' We-just-traded-the-guy-who-was-supposed-to-start-tonight-so-now-what-the-hell-do-we-do? pitcher.

And Grilli just left the game in the middle of an at bat with an apparent arm injury.

Re: 7/22 Other Games Crap

By Michael Sanserino / Pittsburgh Post-GazetteWASHINGTON -- The Pirates beat the Washington Nationals, 6-5, Monday night, but they might have taken their biggest loss of the season in the process.

All-Star closer Jason Grilli left the game after giving up two runs in the ninth inning, grimacing and shaking his right arm as he was escorted off the field by head athletic trainer Todd Tomczyk.

Grilli, 36, threw 24 pitches before leaving the game with two outs in the ninth inning. He leads the National League with 30 saves and was named to his first career All-Star game earlier this month.

He underwent Tommy John surgery after the 2002 season.

Re: 7/22 Other Games Crap

Bruce just went deep to make it 6-0 in the third. I hope what I'm hearing is a smattering of TTTIB fans in San Franscisco yelling "Bruuuuuuce" and not Giants fans booing a guy who's won two Cy Youngs, has two World Series rings and threw a 148-pitch no-hitter his last time out.

It's possible Lincecum is cooked, but as you said, it would be ridiculous for Giants fans to boo him.

It turns out they weren't. When Bochy went out to get him in either the third or fourth inning, he got a decent ovation, I'm assuming for the no-hitter.

Re: 7/22 Other Games Crap

Grilli to be evaluated today. Right now, the injury is listed as "right forearm discomfort."
