Cost? 4 years, and estimated 5 million in taxpayer money to put him on death row. Thankfully it's the military so the process is a lot more straight forward than civilian courts. Still though, I expect it will still be some time before his sentence is carried out.
Fors, while I understand we want to ensure fair judicial proceedings for the accused, I have to think there should be a common sense clause in here somewhere, where guilt is proven immediately (This guy gunning down over 10 people and trading gunfire with the police when they finally shot him and paralyzed him would count) that can rush this process a little bit.
I know that's just me talking from the view of "the world I wish I lived in" but I think we approach fair justice with a level of process that borders on the absurd sometimes...

Sorry I didn't see this earlier Alz, but you won't get any arguments from me. My only issue is with the sentence. Since he wants so badly to die so he can be some sort of martyr, I'd have given him life without the possibility of parole and let him rot in a jail cell in his wheelchair for the rest of his miserable life.

You're too kind. I see no reason to give him a wheelchair...

I'm totally happy with letting him live a long life paralyzed from the waist down, provided we don't give him a wheelchair.
The thought of him dragging himself around prison by his arms for the next 30 years would satisfy me, but of course, I'm really barbaric when it comes to crime and punishment...
I'd also serve him pork every day.

I read a recent story that almost immediately after being brought to Leavenworth after trial he was forcibly shaved. The judge allowed him to keep his beard during the trial, but once his ass landed in prison he was required to comply with military regulations including proper military grooming.

Too pricey. How about a nice can of Spam three times a day?

I'd just as soon not use my tax dollars to help keep his ass alive ....

True, and I'm on board with that too, until Lethal Insleepy becomes the termination method. I think it's way too kind. I miss the days when we were a bit eccentric with our executions. A firing squad seems pretty appropriate for this guy, but we'll never do anything that cruel nowadays...
