I know the best record team rarely makes the ws but i feel good about the cardinals playoff chances. I am not predicting a ws trip but i am proud of them for having the best record in baseball. Winning that is huge. It puts the ball in their court. Some exciting things headed in is that the rotation and bullpen are both clicking out side of mucjia. Asfor the line up i dont think anyone is gassed. Hollidays back is worrsome but he has got some time to rest. Beltran is himself and adams looks better everyday. Looking forward to what is to come.

I'm totally happy to predict a WS appearance. There's no reason really why we shouldn't get there. Atlanta is a little concerning because they beat us 4-3 despite us having home field advantage during the season, but that was also months ago. We have just as much of a chance to get there as anyone else does, and why not us?
We're 11 wins away from Title number 12. Let's count them down.

I feel good about the team getting rest and starting at home against the reds or pirates number 2 starter.

If it's the Reds, they may not even get their number two starter in Game 1. Latos apparently has bone chips in his elbow.

These things are pretty impossible to predict, and half the rotation will be two rookies, so I don't think it's that cut and dry. Avoiding Los Angeles is a plus because I don't think the Cardinals could win a five-game series where Kershaw and Greinke start three of the games. Heck, even Pittsburgh/Cincinnati are going to be tough.
My gut right now says the Cardinals have the third-best rotation and the fourth-best bullpen. I think if they can sneak by Pittsburgh or Cincinnati (and I think either one of them takes the Cardinals to a Game 5), they'll go to seven games against the Braves. The Braves have the best 1-3, the best bullpen and one of the two elite closers. Atlanta kind of resembles last year's San Francisco team, except they trade singles for home runs.

I can't get the dam link to work, but Sveum is out in Chicago...

Makes sense. In between a couple of late July fire sales, Theo hands a dog like Castro a huge contract and signs Edwin Jackson for four years, and it's the manager's fault.

I lean more towardtk line of thinking. It is the playoffs and anything can happen. I do think you could put the 27 yankees on the field and this team would fine a way to make it a game. Idk if they will win a ring but i fully expect a good effort.

I dont understand the reasoning behind signing jackson and i was suprised to see how poorly castros final number were. I didnt paymuch attention to the cubs this year or this decade...lol. i thought tho was headed in a positive direction for cub fans at first. The got rid of some baggage. Still, they basicly are paying someone else to take soriano and they have added a few retarded contracts as u have pointed out.

I'm not sure I agree with the third best rotation. I think Wainright, Miller, Wacha (yes they are indeed kids) are probably something to inspire just as much fear if I'm the Pirates/Reds/Dodgers/Braves.
I know they have weaknesses, but if I'm not mistaken didn't we beat Kershaw the last time we saw him? Anything can happen, but I really don't see any reason to fear anyone else in the national league. I think we can beat any team there, and even think the odds are in our favor. I'm not necessarily saying we should look past anyone, all of those teams are playoff teams, and they didn't get there because they stink. However, I'm comfortable with where we are in putting up a team that can win.
That said, the last two titles we won, I thought our team was weak as hell and going to get laughed out of the postseason in the first round. It's baseball, you never know, I'm just predicting they will get to the WS. Mostly because I have no reason to be that scared of any other NL team.
EDIT and a bit of a PS.
I've felt the same way about the University of Oregon's football team for about 6-7 seasons now, and they have 0 national championships. Something every year has gotten in the way and they've lost a game they shouldn't have. This year I'm seriously optimistic, but keeping my mouth shut until after they get through Washington/UCLA/Stanford.

With the caveat I don't know much about the Cubs' minor league system, which Rick Sutcliffe says will make them the best team in baseball in five years, there's not a lot at the major league level to be optimistic about. Strop looks like a keeper at the back end of their bullpen and Arietta might be a decent middle of the rotation starter, so the Feldman deal was a pretty good one. Theo's weird obsession with Rizzo cost them Andrew Cashner, and that looks like a terrible deal right now, and as much as they want Castro to become Derek Jeter, it's not going to happen, just like Darwin Barney isn't ever even going to be Frank White. Castillo is Geo Soto redux, and Junior Lake is a lesser version of Yasiel Puig. I like Szmardzija, but he's not an ace. Travis Wood looks like a keeper. The rest of the major league roster is fodder.
As much pop as Theo got for winning two World Series with the Red Sox, he took over a pretty good team that had been assembled by Dan Duquette and was able to fine-tune it with an unlimited budget.
