Almedys Diaz signed a 4 year deal with the Cardinals today. Financial terms not released. Will be placed at a "high minor league level," probably AA.

They are really stacking the infield. With diaz they have alot of player i believe the club sees as long term everyday players. Adams, craig, wong, peralta and carp.
I also believe there is a player by the name of kelly they think will make it as a third baseman?

They are discussing converting Carson Kelly to catcher....

Yes, Carson Kelly was sent to the instructional league to learn to be a catcher. Of the third basemen they drafted early in the 2012 draft, on Patrick Wisdom still projects at third. Steven Piscotty has been converted to the outfield.
The thing is the Cardinals had no depth at shortstop. This was a nice signing.

I agree. It makes it less likely we see a player like kozma start a mlb playoff game.
Moving a highly thought of prospect to catcher seems odd being that position is blocked for years.

Kelly is only 19. He's probably at least 3-4 years away from seeing the major leagues.

4 years, $8M. The Cardinals may have gotten a steal. The Dodgers signed 2 different Cuban shortstops, one for 4/$25M, the other for 4/$27M.
