I know basketball doesn't gain much traction on this board, but if you've been watching the NCAA tournament, you've surely most of the teams have been wearing warmup jerseys that read "The (Fill In The Name Of Your Mascot) Way," i.e. - Arizona State's read "The Sun Devil Way," Kansas' read "The Jayhawk Way," etc. You get the idea.
Kentucky is playing right now, and I want to know what "The Wildcat Way" involves. Blatant racism? Poor academic standards? An embarrassingly low graduation rate? Coaches who disregard the rules? Transient players who turn professional after one year?

I understand what you're saying, and I can't stand Calipari, but a big part of the problem is the system. Forcing players with no desire to go to college to do so to fulfill the one year requirement allows a team like Kentucky to exist.

It's not just one guy, Fors. The lord high potentate of Kentucky basketball, the guy who they named the gym after, was a virulent racist. In the late '90s, they still had a discussion about whether a black man should be their coach. In the late '90s! They've had at least two other coaches who were blatant cheaters.
Calipari might be an expert at playing the system, but how many colleges would hire him? Can you imagine him coaching at Vanderbilt? Or Stanford? Or Duke? Or even Arizona? You hire John Calipari, you're telling the world "We don't care about standards. We just want to win basketball games."
