Pujols and Freese went back-to-back tonight. Those trades are finally paying off for Arte.
Should have spent some of that dough on pitching. The Angels just coughed up the lead.

Christiani misses his spot by two and a half feet, happens to nip the inside corner and Brennadork calls it "impressive."

Team That Invented Baseball Loses 31st Series at Busch
ST. LOUIS - Though they are known for inventing the game of baseball four years ago, the Cincinnati Reds lost their 31st series in St. Louis since 2003 with a 7-5 loss Tuesday.
Frustrated by the Reds' inability to win in St. Louis, the Fox Sports 1 broadcast team of Thom Brennaman and Erik Karros called for the Cardinals organization to give up some of its riches. Brennaman openly wondered what would happen to the careers of closer Trevor Rosenthal and set-up man Carlos Martinez if they were not inserted into the starting rotation. Karros suggested the Cardinals trade their two young relievers. Reds manager Bryan Price echoed the statement.
"It's really not fair for us," Price said after his team fell to 2-6. "How many times did Thom mention during the broadcast that we have a bunch of players on the disabled list? Why should the Cardinals be able to play at full-strength when we can't?"
Price stopped short of saying that the Reds would protest the Cardinals not making more of an effort to even the rosters, including disabling Rosenthal, Martinez and Monday's starter Michael Wacha. "No, I won't commit to that," Price said. "It's something the league should definitely take note of, but I can't promise we'll say something."
Reds third baseman Todd Frazier suggested the Cardinals are using nefarious means. "Did you see Bruce pull up on Holliday's fly ball? You can't tell me something isn't going on."
Homer Bailey, who started for the Reds, believes the Cardinals were stealing signs. "Definitely," he said. "Plus, Ballpark Village is clearly a distraction." Pressed by reporters on how the entertainment complex outside the stadium and housed in a completely separate facility distracted him, Bailey demurred. "I'm not going to get into that. You guys will just take whatever I say and turn it into something about not being 'The Cardinal Way.'"
The series wraps up Wednesday afternoon.

Martinez is filthy tonight.
Yeah, he looked really impressive from the camera angle behind the Frazier's ass.

Rec. And you guys can thank me for trading for Homer Bailey thus ensuring that he goes 5-16 with an ERA over 5.00

That was a silly production decision, but I wrote that after the third strike to Ludwig in the at bat before Frazier's. It's not often you see a decent major league hitter react with that much hopelessness after striking out.

"The series wraps up Wednesday afternoon."
Thom can continue THE REDS Apology Tour tomorrow without having to begrudgingly give a modicum of credit to the Cardinals like he's required to do on the national broadcast.

Not necessarily. Fox Sports 1 is a new network (well, not brand new. It replaced Fox Soccer Channel) that's designed to compete with ESPN and NBC Sports. They show a lot of college hoops, auto racing, and they still have the rights to the UEFA Champions League (but not the English Premier League, which, regrettably, is now owned by NBC Sports) and now baseball.
Most of the national Saturday baseball games will be aired on FS1 instead of the regular Fox network channel, and they're throwing in some weekday games that are broadcast nationally as well.
I don't know what FSMW does when the Blues and Cardinals play at the same time, but New England Sports Network (which is owned by the Red Sox and also has rights to the Bruins) puts the Sox on regular NESN and the Bruins on a channel called NESN-Plus. I'd imagine the local Fox affiliates may have something similar. The overlap between the start of the baseball season and end of the first round of the NHL playoffs is so short, though, that it only happens a couple of times.
