This is about as big as a mid-April game gets. By my estimation, it'll be Garza vs. Lynn, Estrada vs. Miller and Peralta vs. Kelly.

Strauss thinks there's another move coming beyond Ellis, who will probably be back this week.

Sounds like you were listening to McKernan too.

Yes, sir.

Ellis up, Kozma down?
Any hint on the other move? Jon Jay to Seattle for Felix Hernandez?

I don't think he said, but my hunch is that it's bullpen related.

Strauss also talked about one of the outfielders (Piscotty was mentioned) coming up and taking Robinson's place on the roster. They also mentioned Joey Butler, who they acquired off waivers from Texas as another alternative if the club was inclined to continue to find at-bats for Piscotty, Grichuk and Taveras. Butler is 28 so his development is less of a concern and he's hitting .464 in 28 at bats with a couple of HRs

Im not sure the point of replacing peralta with descalso all the time. It is because peralta isnt hit and they see descalso as a better hitter right now? You dont here the term late inning offensive replacement tho. I domt really see descalso as a better defender then peralta but if it is a defensive replacement why not go with kozma? Kozmas spot on the roster has been pointless.

I dont think they are worried enough to send craig down for a tune up but i sure hope he starts hitting.
I could see siegrist being sent down to work on control and lyons being called up or butler down and aardsma called up. Freeman looks to be struggling and there is a handfull of pitchers i dont know anything about. Who knows, it is about time for the memphis suffle.

If they get Felix Hernandez, I would hope he's not going to pitch out of the bullpen.

Oh, and can I wait longer than two weeks before I worry about the Brewers? At least until after the piss test guy shows up in their clubhouse?

Interesting piece on craig and him not getting the ball in the air

I can't imagine they'd send Craig down two weeks into the season. I'm not even sure if they can since he may be out of options. And then who do you put in right? Jay? Shano? I'd think I'd prefer the notion that Craig will break out of his slump over either of those guys. Even if Jon Jay is a god.

All 3 memphis outfielders are hitting. Well 4 as tk said. However i agree. Craig isnt going down even if he can. I think if he keeps hitting Poorly and the memphis outfielders keep slugging there is going to be alot of pressure to bench him.

1-0 to Craig: not a strike

Do your thing, Jhonny.

If Jean Segura hits .294 this season, I'll walk to Wisconsin and tell him he's the greatest shortstop who ever played.

So far, it's just about his only thing.

I guess Lance Lynn's thing is taking a 20-second breather between every pitch.

Rare appearance tonight for my wife in front of a TV with a baseball game on.
"Why do you blog about the game during the game?"
"I'm not blogging. I'm posting."
"What's the difference?"
"Only internet dorks blog."
"What part of that excludes you?"
"Isn't Really Desperate Housewives on somewhere in another room?"
"You're not going to write what I just said on your blog, are you?"
"I told you. It's not a blog."

I've been timing Lynn. It takes him anywhere between 13-16 seconds.

He seems to be working on commission tonight.

He's driving me nuts tonight. If I see him repeatedly wipe his hand between pitches one more time I'm driving to Milwaukee and chopping it off.
Any time someone asks me what I'm looking at and typing during the game I just tell them I'm reading about it. It's worked for 12+ years now.

Next time, I'm going to tell her I'm watching a donkey show on YouPorn.
I had to ask her to leave the room. She made too many references to Matt Garza's need for rhinoplasty.

Pirates and TTTIB have combined for seven homers in 5 1/2 innings.
