July 4 Gamecrap

I'm going to miss this on account of a freedom festival, but it's Lynn vs. Eovaldi.

Re: July 4 Gamecrap

Almost everything here has been canceled or rescheduled due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Artie.

There's a cementhead element to him that's very unnerving.

BTW, what's a "freedom festival?" You haven't turned into one of those faux tea party people who dresses up like Ben Franklin or George Washington on important holidays to demand the government stop levying taxes on Grover Nordquist and the Koch brothers?

The 8th inning was a pitch away from a tie.
The 9th was a pitch away from a nightmare.....

Keep in mind that I grew up in rural Missouri, so when I visit family and go out on the Fourth, it's always to a "Freedom Fest." It's usually fireworks, live music (always country), carnival food and something related to the troops or the Constitution. Last night someone read the entire Bill of Rights.

Did they skip over the "well-regulated militia" clause in the Second Amendment? There are people who always seem to conveniently forget that part.

Re: July 4 Gamecrap

I was having a discussion a few weeks ago with one of my conservative friends who insisted racism isn't a factor in the U.S. anymore because we've elected a black president twice.
If that's all it took to end racism, we could have elected Frederick Douglass in 1856 and skipped over the Civil War.

Re: July 4 Gamecrap

I was drinking a snow cone during the reading of the Bill of Rights, so I couldn't be bothered to pay attention.

Your conservative friend should join me in dark red Missouri sometime to say that race isn't a factor. Or take a look at the Facebook posts of people I have hidden.

Re: July 4 Gamecrap

Do you drink a snow cone, or eat a snow cone? I suppose it depends upon how fast it melts and how fast you consume it.

Re: July 4 Gamecrap

Good question. I suppose it was more eating than drinking since I had a spoon.

There are also people who conveniently ignore that the term "militia" is a reference to ordinary citizens, not professional "soldiers" which are referenced elsewhere in the Bill of Rights.
