The only thing that has saved Wood's pitch count from reaching 70 has been two terrible called third strikes.

Kelly looks off.

At the current pace, this game will be over sometime tomorrow.

A walk, a bloop single, and a routine fly ball in any other ballpark.

It'll move along now. The Cardinals have already had the inning in which they've scored.

I have no idea why anyone throws Craig anything except a fastball inside?

Ryan Sweeney.

I really hope Mozeliak is able to find some help for this rotation because Kelly isn't going to cut it as the third starter.

The Cardinals are a bad base running team.

This sucks.

This has been a really bad week of baseball. The manager who puts hit and runs on with the pitcher batting makes things worse.

From Jeff Todd MLB Trade Rumors8:46pm: Pierzynski is already in Chicago and will join the Cardinals tomorrow, tweets Rosenthal.8:33pm: A deal appears to be close, Goold reports, with Pierzynski leaving a visit to Cooperstown for induction weekend, per Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (via Twitter). Goold indicates that Pierzynski seems to be headed to meet the club in Chicago. Meanwhile, Kottaras has cleared his locker and left the club, though the precise transaction involving him remains unclear.8:09pm: The Cardinals are working on a deal with free agent catcher A.J. Pierzynski, reports Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (via Twitter). The recently-added George Kottaras would be the odd man out if a deal gets done, which Goold seemingly implies is likely.

This should be a real game-changer.

Maybe a little clubhouse cancer is just what the doctor ordered.

Seriously, nobody likes AJ Pierzynski and he's not even good. What are the Cardinals hoping to gain from this?

Someone who isn't Tony Cruz or George Kattaras. Until Cruz threw out lead-footed Anthony Rizzo today, neither one of them had thrown out a runner since Yadi got hurt and they had combined for an .250 OPS.
Look, I know Pierzynski is a jerk and he's never going to be hired as a U.N. negotiator and because he spent too much time sitting in front of his locker texting his girlfriend instead of coddling Clay Buchholz and massaging Jake Peavy's bruised ego the Red Sox are retroactively blaming him for everything bad that's happened to their franchise since Smokey Joe Wood blew out his elbow, but the Cardinals have to do something until Yadi comes back. If Pierzynski doesn't work out, you cut him and move on to the next option. If he turns into Will Clark, then Moz is a genius.

All right, Officer Fufkin...I'll come in off the ledge now. Let's hope tomorrow begins "the summer of A.J."!

I guess Mo is hoping this ass-hole can throw out enough runners and drive in enough runs where Holliday doesn't deck his ass for being an ass-hole .........

That's the first time I've been accused of being involved with law enforcement. At least on the law enforcement side.
I'm so frustrated right now. I'm glad Moz is at least trying something instead of continuing to wait for these guys to come around. This is probably the most talented Cardinals' team since 1968, and they're six games over .500 heading into the last week of July. One day it's the starting pitching. The next day it's the bullpen. The offense is perpetually anemic. I'm thinking about buying stock in Exxon Mobil. Their profits have to be up because they've done the "Six Is A Serious Number" discount thing about three times this season.
Someone please give me a logical explanation for what's happened to Allen Craig. I didn't expect him to hit .400 with RISP for the rest of his career, but geezusmaryandjoseph when did he turn into Scott Cooper?

I don't buy into the Sox stuff because that's typical of their organization, but I do know he's a horse's ass and washed up. In my lifetime, there's never been a Cardinal I've despised because of non-baseball reasons. Pierzynski is the first.
