Nice effort by jay in the 4th.

They lose tonight, it doesn't make it back to St. Louis.

I think molina might have hurt his foot on that early foul ball off his foot. At least I'm hoping. If it's something else he's done.
Balls off gloves, not making the play by a foot, there just isn't much going our way here.
They are finished if they don't win this.

Strained oblique. Molina likely done for series. Probably entire post-season.

Yep, that shit doesnt heal over night....
There goes adams. Win this thing.

You really gotta say one thing about these Cardinals. Whatever your expectations are, throw them in the trash can, because they'll do exactly what you never expect.
When I heard about molina and then they gave up the lead, I was writing this postseason off.
We apparently do have some power in our bats.

And here comes Rosenthal to scare the absolute shit out of all of us.
I'm out of Tums, anyone able to hook me up?

I'm just going to start guzzling whiskey.

And there is your routine "3-0, paint, paint, fireball" strikeout.
Lucky he got those border calls.
And there's a single, and there's the bullpen call to get someone's ass warming up immediately.

I swear to god. I hate Trevor Rosenthal. How in the hell does this guy get saves with a WHIP that has to be around 3.25

This shit is just agonizing.

I cannot believe that just happened.

Because his manager continues to run him out there with 2 and 3 run leads to collect a stat that doesn't truly reflect the pitcher's effectiveness.
Closers without control are pretty much useless. Fitting it comes back to bite Matheny in the ass tonight.

Matheny goes to get him after the 4th base runner.
They could play baseball on an octogon, with 7 bases and home plate, and I still wouldn't trust Rosenthal with a 1 run lead.

No way this ends well.

It should have already ended... but Rosenthal couldn't hit the garage door from the fucking driveway lately.
Let Martinez close please.

What the...
Well good win boys.

Kolten Fucking Wong.

Unreal. Let me guess, Rosenthal is still the closer.

Well this series just got very difficult. One would almost say it's impossible for the Cardinals to win this now.
Except.... We've been saying this all season. This team is capable of absolutely anything, good or bad.

Well if molina would have been in there the pass ball wouldnt have happendmand rosenthal would have had a chance to barely get by like normal. Losing molina is going to hurt most. I think rosenthal csn be closer. He has closer stuff. He has to figure out how to finish people.

Throwing hard isn't enough to make one a closer. You have to know where it's going. Ask Kyle Farnsworth.
I have very mixed emotions at this point. Obviously, I'd love to see them win the whole thing, but I would much rather see them lose the LCS than lose the World Series to the Royals. I wouldn't want to have to deal with losing another series to KC. It's like losing a fight to your little brother.
With Molina, a KC/StL series featured a significant sub-plot with the KC baserunners challenging Molina's arm. Without Molina, I have visions of Royals baserunners circling the bases like it's a track meet.

I'm still in no mood to talk about Rosenthal, he's brutal right now. This is not the time to be completely terrible. This is the NLCS, and if you want to close, you better be able to get outs. Not walk, hit, walk, hit, wild pitch, come get me because I suck....
This is like watching the Ravens/Giants super bowl, where the Ravens absolutely destroyed the Giants, and with about 7 minutes left, they let their backup QB come in. "Touchdown" Tony Banks.... And I was sitting on my couch saying, "Hold everything! This game ain't over yet!!!". The Ravens didn't even let him attempt a pass, just hand off, hand off, more hand off..

Hit stuff is still pretty overpowerijg and unhittable. He cant finish batters. He is throwing smoke. I dont know of him really getting hit hard. Also if he isnt your closer imassume maness is. Id rather rosenthal close and maness stay in his role. Maness has protected more games in his role then rosenthal has lost.

I disagree boss. His ERA in the postseason is now 13.50 with a WHIP of 2.72
The closer is your best pressure player. Rosenthal has lost it, and with Molina out? I need a pitcher who doesn't need a mound visit every three pitches and doesn't need to be reminded to get the mud out of his cleats by the manager....
