ESPN Classic is showing the Ryne Sandberg game from 1984, aka the Cubs most memorable win of the last century. Meanwhite, in the present, Motte blew a save in the ninth today versus the Phillies.

And Francouer hits a 2-run homer in the 10th ...

Darn. What a tough loss.

6-4-3. Sit down and shut the fuck up, Gomes.

Catch that one, Gomes. You suck.

Grichuk is not stronger then holliday.

Same thing I thought. Holliday could pick up Grichck and throw him 25 feet.
Loads of potential even holding bat a bit weird at address, so be it for now.
I had thought he couild be huge difference in SF playoffs last yr but after early homer, they silenced him if I remember correctly?

TK and AP are probably too young to know this, but does anyone else remember why the Cardinals let Terry Pendleton get away? It just seemed like he was ticketed for Atlanta as soon as he was eligible for free agency.

Todd Zeile?
METS took Juan Uribe (ugh) off ATL hands?
STL gets decent relief arm, nice!

Grichuk might be more explosive at this point in his career then holliday.. Raw power he Iisn't close to holliday.
Nice baserunning tho. Nice steal and way to push

Mets got a decent deal.

Pendleton had decent years , off years , stole some bases , nagging injuries, pretty good glove . Management decided to go with Zielle. That didn't work very well either

That one's probably not going to have the distance, Gomes, you piece of shit.

Thaaat's right. Whitey thought Zeile would have a longer career if he switched to third.

I liked Pendleton. Granted, that was during a period when I only got to watch the Cardinals about a dozen times a year during the regular season, but it seemed like every time I saw him play, he'd come up with the key hit or make a big defensive play. That homer he hit against the Mets in '87 was epic.

I probably owe cooney an apology. He has saved the cardinals ass with garcia out.

So Fredi opts not to pinch-hit for Bansuelos so he can face the lefty leading off the bottom of the sixth, and the lefty hits a single.
Maybe we're too tough on Matheny sometimes ...

Jonny Gomes. Now batting under. 200.

Send out Cooney for the 8th?
