Garcia activated; Tui to Memphis.
Hmmm ... I would have thought Socolovich would be headed down.

One of my great regrets is not buying a So Taguchi shirt when I was at Busch Stadium in 2006. Would have been the only guy in my neighborhood wearing one of those.

Geez-us. When will Wong come up with a clutch hit?

Waiting for the game to start ...

Which was worse? Allowing the leadoff single to Leake, or walking Phillips?

And the Pirates break a 3-3 tie with four runs in the eighth.

Hopefully this is a signal of how badly this team needs a player who can hit. You have 3 days Moz.

I agree with this, but like Derrick Goold tweeted out -- one hitter doesn't change much unless the current group starts hitting, too. Carpenter can tell us until he's blue in the face there's nothing wrong, but he's hitting .185 the last two months. Wong, Holliday, Peralta are scuffling; Heyward and Molina aren't hitting for enough power; and Mark Reynolds was exposed five weeks ago. Grichuk has been great in July, but he alternates power binges with 0-10 droughts.

So DraftKings held a $20 game tonight where first place wins $100,000. I didn't enter because I figured I was bound to lose, but I did create a lineup I would've entered. I picked Sonny Gray (44.85 points), Mike Leake (25 points), A-Rod (20 points), Yoenis Cespedes (17 points), JD Martinez (11 points) and Chris Young (40 points). I totaled around 170 points*, which probably wouldn't have won first place, but it damn sure would've netted me a few hundred bucks.
(My other picks were Schwarber, Pujols, Duffy and Alcides Esobar)
