Wow.
Up four with five to play ...

The Pirates have to be kicking themselves after this one. 16 left on base in 9 innings. Yikes
The Cardinals really need to win tomorrow and rest some people.

Well, that kind of makes up for yesterday's loss, although Piscotty's injury is a real downer. Nice to see Rosey battle albeit in Roseyan fashion.

Ten walks. I think they left the bases loaded four times.

Matheny won't get a single first or second place vote in MOTY balloting, but what a leader. This team could've unraveled about six different times and they always find a way to win. Frustrating team on most nights, ugly baseball, but so very solid.

Per Matheny's post-game interview, all scans on Piscotty were negative. Not sure whether than rules out a concussion, but nothing broken.

It'll be criminal if he doesn't win Manager of the Year. The combination of Maddon's irreverence and the media's fixation with the Cubs won't get MM a sniff.
Who's second? Collins?

Good news. I know the medical people don't take any chances with head or neck injuries these days, as is proper, but it looks really scary when they drive a guy off the field on a backboard like that.

I'm watching a different game than Sutcliffe. Neither of those failed double play turns is on Wong. They're both on Peralta. On the first one, he didn't charge the ball. On the second one, he couldn't get the ball out of his glove.
Agree , I said the exact same thing ....

His in game strategy leave some to be desired but he has to be doing something right in preparing these guys mentally in preparing for these set backs

Great news. The way he was carted off was worrysome. Im glad the conversation will be about when he can play again instead of when he csn walk again.

Crazy game. All the men left on base. The walks. The jams. The 9th inning escape act. Just crazy. I hate seeing this team back into the playoffs but they are battle tested.

Tk, this is the one sentence that wraps up the 2015 Cardinals. They don't feel scrappy or dominant, they aren't comeback kids, or miracle workers. Half the team is or has spent serious time in the doc's office with injuries, and they always find a way to win anyway.

I think so. The media is infatuated with the Mets and they love taking the piss out of the Nationals, so he'll get a lot of love. Matheny isn't a tactical genius, but I think Bochy and Showalter are the only guys who are. That said, Matheny is just seen as some handsome dude who inherited a world champion. He doesn't give great interviews and though he actually has a great personality, it's downplayed when he's in Manager Mode. To many beat writers, it appears your managerial acumen is proportionate to your ego and how much you gab at pressers.

I can only imagine what he said when Wong got doubled off first on Cruz's liner to right. By that time, I had switched to FSMW, even though that version was in standard def.
Of all the broadcast announcers out there, Sutcliffe is the worst. Except for the douchebags in Cincinnati.

I'd put Pat Murphy in that group, too. I know the Padres are nine games under since he took over, but it's tough to come in to an interim situation. His problems are a gigantic ego and casual disregard for any rules. But he can manage a game as well as anyone.

Interesting. I haven't watched many Padres games.

Neither have I, but I saw him pick enough pockets in college to know he knows what he's doing. The only guy who came close in the Pac 12 was John Savage.

Piscotty has been released from the hospital with nothing but bruises.
