I didnt like that either.  I understood trying to get holliday, grichuk and the others healthy but I dont think it played to there advantage.  There is to much energy in the post season.  You cant grind through it.  You have to hit the post season hot and stay hot.  The first 162 games matter very little as ling as you qualify.

Eh, the Mets didn't exactly go into the postseason scorching hot. The Cubs were the hottest team and they got wiped out, so I don't think it matters in the end. The Cardinals lost because Jaime Garcia lost his shit, the offense got dominated by a bunch of scrub relievers, Michael Wacha was throwing pus and the bullpen imploded. This shit is just unpredictable. 

There is a certain bit of randomness but it is alot easier to make a run at the playoffs if you hit is hot then back peddle in.
