I'll make an attempt to rationalize some of this.
Amphetamines were not nearly as big of an episode as PED's were. Why? Modern media. You cannot scratch your butt in the wrong direction without someone putting you in the news, and if the story gains traction or outrage, it's a fiasco. Congress needs to be involved. Every rare case child that takes sterroids and dies is highlighted.
Hell they can't even prove anyone drove around Columbia Missouri calling people names, and the University President had to resign because the entire campus lost their damned mind. I'm just saying that in today's world, it doesn't even take a sniff of facts for 100 million Americans to be up in arms and hashtagging for justice....
I imagine had the amphetamine situation erupted during modern media, it would be treated with just as much disdain. There have been pitchers tossed for greasing or cutting balls, and players tossed for corked bats. These do not prevent them from making the hall of fame. Seems like they are performance enhancing to me. But there's no social outrage over this type of thing, so it's okay. Modern day America is very much driven by the voice of the collective mob. The mob says performance enhancing drugs keep you from the hall of fame. They demand the commissioner of a sports league step in and suspend you without pay the moment there's even an accusation. They are offended by everything, and anything you say under any influence or situation is held as your personal belief.
It's the main reason why I post next to nothing on social media. Someone undoubtedly will PIN where I work to my account. Now anything I say is somehow a reflection of my job and can get me fired..... I hate modern America.
