Scouting Director pleads guilty

to hacking the Astros database.  Claims that the Astros database had proprietary information that belonged to the Cardinals.

Sentencing scheduled for April 11

Passan is all over this. Calling for everything but public executions. For the cyber equivalent of leaving a flaming bag of poop on Luhnow's porch.

Re: Scouting Director pleads guilty

Reading the stories, I think it's pretty bad and I expect them to lose a draft pick(s).

The Cardinals can spin this anyway they want, but accessing Houston's draft database on the day of the draft, and their information on trades on the day of the trade deadline smells of corporate espionage. And going back in and stealing the password information after Houston changed the password info shows some effort.

Just my opinion, but I think Correa fell on his sword to protect Moz. I don't think this happens without Moz's knowledge at some point.

Certainly possible.  The info would do very little good unless mo knew and unless the source was revealed mo wouldnt take the info serious.

Re: Scouting Director pleads guilty

Maybe that is why the cards are stock piling draft picks this year.  Thry figure some are going to disappear

Re: Scouting Director pleads guilty

Correa sentenced to 46 months.  MLB's investigation of the Cardinals will go full throttle now that the criminal investigation is done.  It'll be interesting to see what MLB does.  I think the Cardinals receive some pretty stiff punishment (deservedly so), which may explain their recent aggressive dip into the international free agent pool.

Re: Scouting Director pleads guilty

46 months for a baseball crime....hell real criminals dont get that.  Not that i dont think he deserves it.  Im just suprised.  And yes, i think the cards are fucked.  What they need to do is unload every trade piece they have and stock pile.  This team sucks anyway.

Maybe they will ban the cards from the post season in 2016
