He's extremely laid back and doesn't really have the voice of a color commentator. If he was anyone other than the greatest center fielder in franchise history, this wouldn't work, but I love it anyway. He does a great job of picking up on things happening in the game. It's just not a typical TV presentation, more like watching the game with a guy who sounds stoned.

His color skills need work....

The Angels claim last night's attendance was 33,378. Maybe they sold that many tickets, but a lot of those people must have gotten lost on their way to the ballpark.

Maybe it's a SoCal thing, but Morgan Ensberg used to have what I'm guessing was a similarly quirky style of commentary. He used to cover Pac 12 games and he did some work for ESPN during the college baseball regionals. Ensberg could break down the game quickly and intelligently, the way McCarver could when he first broke into broadcasting with the Mets. Ensberg's surfer dude persona could be annoying, but at least it was genuine, not like Mark Grant's phony schtick, which makes him come off as a hipster douchebag. But Ensberg left the booth and became a coach because I think his heart was still on the field.

They were stuck in traffic.

Having traveled I-5 between L.A. and Anaheim, I was allowing for that possibility.

Story time with Schumaker and Edmonds has been great. Poor Bo Hart.
Im as big of edmonds fan as anyone but im not sold on his accounting yet.How does his voice come off on television? I've always thought he sounds like a gay guy trying to imitate a Valley Girl.
Sounds okay. He just doesnt sound like he should be in a booth. Still sounds like a guest or a post game guy. Sort of choppy and like your sitting around a card table telling uninteresting storys. He does add a legitimacy to breaking down field plays unlike Al saying the same 5 things every game.
