Never liked the safety squeeze. If you're gonna do it, be bold.

I'm stunned.

It must be about time to DFA Gyorko. Can't have him showing up the regulars.

Who pitches the eighth?

I just realized it's the 12th anniversary of Pujols doing this at Wrigley:

I think sending out the guy who's getting over mono for the second time on a 95-degree day is probably a good idea.

Oh picked up 2 saves today with fewer pitches than most of Rosenthal's appearances this year.

The 1-1 pitch to Shemp was one of the nastiest pitches I've seen all season.

He was hitting 96 after.warming up and pitching in the afternoon and then warming up again six hours later.

On the plus side, Rosenthal ought to be available for tonight's game.

I don't know what's worse. The nonsensical Bud Light Lime song or the beer itself.
Im a fan in small doses. I dont want to drink a case of line beer but one or two is a nice way to start out a hot day of drinking. Im not a beer snob tho. I think it all should be sold in 30 packs.

It's a good thing Matheny used his two best relievers this afternoon, when Martinez was still under 90 pitches and cruising.
I believe mo, maybe i hesrd it through one of those chat things on the post dispatch, said that martinez has some sort of algebra equation they run on him to decide how many pitches he can throw. I believe it involved so many pitches over so many games and what not. Sounds stupid but you got to limits mathenys dmamage on this pitching staff some how.

With every at bat, I get more concerned Wong is headed toward oblivion.
Trade him to anyone willing to take him. He makes bonehead plays in the field and on the basepads. His bat looks like a legitimate mlb bat for a week and then a joke for a month. He doesnt have it. He isnt going to develop. He is what he is. Dump him.

I'm not defending Wong or suggesting they shouldn't move him if they can get something of value, but the catch he made going back into right-center was an exceptional play.

I would give you 5:1 odds Carlos Martinez doesn't know how to spell algebra.

I'll take the exacta that he can't spell it in English or Spanish.

Yeah, he's a pretty good defensive player. The thing that makes me think most of his problems are between his ears is that he hit what, four homers in five games when they sent him to Memphis. I can forgive the kid who got picked off in the 2013 World Series. But that was 2 1/2 seasons ago, and he's still playing like he's in high school and he's going to get his varsity letter taken away if he makes a mistake.
