If you're not wrong about Wong, he won't be here long.

What a bitch.

Rasmus has a remarkable ability to be bitter and hold a grudge I guess..... Jesus, what a bitch indeed.

Chris carter is considering a contract overseas. If the Cardinals could grap him for 5mill and put him on the bench would it be worth it? He would keep bullpens honest id think. He is strike out prone but a lower threat as well.

You can't have Carter and Adams on the bench.  Between the 2 of them they barely play 1 position.

Id dump adams if i signed carter. Id dump adams anyway. Not a fan. Or wong but i hope im wrong about wong. This is the year for him to prove himself. My preference would have been to trade him but that isnt going to happen.

They won't do that.  Adams has the advantage of being left-handed.  As it stands right now, the bench will include Pham, either Peralta or Gyorko (whichever isn't starting) and Fryer.  I've heard they're looking for a LH hitting outfielder.  Someone previously mentioned Chris Coghlan, and I think that's the type of player they're looking for.

To his credit, at least Colby was actually complaining for himself and not relying on his daddy to do it.

That was simply exceptional sir. Well done.

Never mind Coghlan.  He signed a minor league deal with Philadelphia.

He will probably have a better shot of making the mlb roster in philly.  Would have been excellent depth in stl tho.

Langosch predicting the 25 man .

Enough to bump the Cubs ?
Enough to make the playoffs ?

Re: 2017

I dont see alot of things to watch this spring.  Outside of injuries the team is locked.

Re: 2017

I look for the team to make a couple of trades, or unload a couple of players in one trade, before time to set the 25 man roster.  Unfortunately, I don't think they'll be selling high with any of the guys I have in mind.

I think the Braves are trying to be the latest version of the Cubs.  They unloaded everything in exchange for prospects and they're just trying to scrape by until those prospects make it to the majors.

Re: 2017

So Bernie wrote a column ripping Matheny for blaming the baserunning and defensive miscues on The Media not understanding that Piscotty, Wong, Grichuk and Diaz are young players (even though these four were mostly the exception to baserunning/defensive issues). Today, Bernie has Jenifer Langosch on his show and Langosch reveals that the Cardinals have moved The Media offsite, hinting that Matheny really doesn't like them right now. Apparently no other media group in baseball has a workroom stationed off campus like the one in Jupiter.

I think there's a chance - maybe a small one - that we're witnessing the beginning of the end of Matheny's managerial career. Every time a head coach or manager becomes openly hostile to the media and also adds paranoia, that usually signals the end. In St. Louis, it happened with Martz, Linehan and Spags. La Russa sparred with reporters, but he was never paranoid. I think there's a difference between galvanizing your guys against the media's expectations and just flat making shit up, like reporters criticizing Matheny for playing someone like Diaz.

Wow. Is Matheny channeling Donald Trump? I can't speak to St. Louis talk radio or any of the local television stations, but the only guy at the P-D who was remotely critical of the Cardinals died about a year ago.
The Boston media has become a cheering section for all the pro teams in the area these days, but I'd like to see how Matheny would handle criticism from the media in other East Coast cities like Philadelphia or, gulp, New York.

I read a blog today that suggested the Braves are trying to rebuild with prospects at the same time they're trying to get some veterans at the end of their contracts to help fill the new stadium. I'm not sure you can do both.
If the latter notion has any truth, I wonder how many folks in Atlanta went to the box office today to sign up for season tickets because they were so excited about the addition of Brandon Phillips. If every ticket hasn't already been sold after they acquired Jaime Garcia.

Re: 2017

Interesting in reference to matheny and his possible job status.

I thought bernie was just doing radio.  Didnt realize he was still writing.  Ill have to keep an eye on him as nothing the post dispatch has to say is interesting.

Re: 2017

Apparently Matheny took the blame for baserunners practically stealing at will last season, saying he spent the winter looking at ways to get the pitchers to speed up their deliveries. Why oh why was this not addressed during the season?

Just make Mike Shildt the manager already.

I'm stumping for Stubby Clapp. Just so when he's hired I can see a headline in the P-D that reads "Cardinals get Clapp."

I pretty much ignore st baseball stat lines, especially this early.  I am curious how they decide who starts what games.  Seems so random.
