Am I alone in the thought there have been some curious managerial decisions in this game?

Re: 6/13 doubleheader crap

The Cards left fielder has never played in the outfield before...

That would be one of the curious managerial decisions I referenced earlier.

They really needed more than five innings from Lynn.

But they weren't going to get it.  Matheny took a risk letting him finish the 5th.  Not that it wasn't the smart thing to do but, the way Lynn was pitching, people would have second guessed the shit out of Matheny if he hadn't have gotten out of it.

Just like they would have second guessed his use of Cecil in game 2 if it hadn't worked out the way it did.

Since they lost, I am sure retroactively most folks think so.  The only one that mystified me was Mattheny have the guts to let Cecil go a second inning.  But he's got to make use of him and it worked out great, to no good purpose.

You'd think Matheny would take out Cecil after his first scoreless inning since the 12th of Never, but not our Jeenyus ...

At least you were wrong ahead of the fact.

Game 2

Gonzalez's stuff looked impressive in the 1st

They would be smart to get gonzo and weaver in the rotation. Put wacha in the pen and trade lynn.

Cardinal fan smart.  Weaver left the Redbirds game the night before with a trainer after getting the crap pounded out of him.  I've bee searching trying to find out if he had more back trouble and haven't found out anything.  He's still on the active roster but not scheduled to pitch the next couple of days.

I've been advocating trading Lynn because of what they could probably get for him from a good team but not because he's the third best starter the Cards have, which he is.

Does Matheny even have a steal sign?

To whom?  Molina or Carpenter?

He replaced David Lee Roth in Van Halen. In baseball terms, it's a reverse Wally Pipp.

I only know of Roth because I can recall someone introducing Lou Christie and saying that he was years ahead of Roth.  i don't know if he was talking about the falsetto or the dance moves.

I remember hearing the name Van Halen quite a bit in the mid-80's but don't think I ever heard any of their music.

I can't imagine what Lou Christie and David Lee Roth would have in common except both are singers who were born in the United States. The Roth/Van Halen conflict was a pop culture civil war. Initially, it was cooler to root for Roth, unless you were a musician. But as time passed, you figured out everyone on both sides was a prick and you hoped they'd all go away.
