Team is probably playing as well as they have all year. All the new guys seem hungry.

Who the hell is in the booth with McLaughlin?

No clue. I listened on the radio. Sounded like a wasted easy win.

Funny thing, normally the West Coast games are too late for me to watch. My daughter, Madison started high school this year and she's been playing so much softball I found myself actually watching a couple of innings to relax after we'd get home from her games. Now that the Cardinals are back home and on at a more decent time I probably won't be able to watch.

Mark Grant. He's the color analyst for the station that covers the Padres. I find him incredibly annoying, but he's something of a cult figure among the three dozen people in San Diego who care about the Padres. He and Edmonds switched places in the 4th (?) inning last night. Edmonds best quote when he in the Padres' booth was about the team's youth. It was something like "I like you guyses' future."

My situation is similar. The 9 p.m. ET start last night was perfect for me. I have time to go to the gym after dinner, and by the time the game starts, everyone else is in bed, the dog has been walked and no one bothers me. The problem is almost none of the games the Cardinals play start at 9. The 10 p.m. starts are killers. This West Coast trip wasn't bad because three of the eight games were played during the day, but I'm a little bit of a zombie today.

Im a fan of late games if im working. Gives me something to listen to other then the same 5 songs they play on the radio all night. It is best when Shannon isnt calling the game as well. I tend to zone him out anymore.

What is this gym thing of which you speak? I kid you not, this has been my non-work schedule this week since the holiday
Tuesday: Madison games 4:15-6, 7:45-9:30. Home by 10, eat & check homework, start laundry, settle down to relax by 11
Wednesday: Madison games 5-7, 7-9:30. Home by 10, eat (no homework), start laundry, settle down by 10:30
Yesterday: Madison game 5-7. Home by 7:30, eat & check homework, start homework, settle down by 9.
Today: Madison game at 4. It should end by 6. Bob has a game tonight at 7. Fortunately both are home games, so I don't have to drive in between.
Tomorrow: Driving to Memphis for a college visit
Sunday: Returning from Memphis and getting home in time to cut the grass, clean the house and do whatever laundry remains.
Funny thing is I'm going to miss this when they're gone.

Yes, you will miss them. It goes by incredibly fast, especially with only 1. We did, however, supplement with exchange students when my daughter was in the 8th, 10th, and 12th. Not the same, however.
Fors, where will you be staying when you get to Memphis?

I thought the guy was so full of gas that he was going to explode on camera. Listening to him and Whiskey Dan policing each other's knob got old in a hurry. I didn't think it could get any worse than it has been with Edmonds or McCarver getting the suck-up treatment. But it did.
Sound's like he has dinner plans somewhere down the road with the Clemente family.

Comfort Inn on Sycamore. We're coming down for the Rhodes football game and heading back Sunday morning.

The scary thing is I'm going to have to learn how to talk to my wife again.
We still have the dog, He's the only one in the house who is actually happy to see me.

Grant is like that ALL THE TIME. There's no off button. It's draining.

Im in a house with 3 females and a dog that had his nuts cut off. All hope has been lost. My kids are still young enough to think im not completely full of shit tho. That will be changing soon. In all reality id rather send my free time at home then with others. People are like the 2017 cardinals, built to disappoint.

I'm actually worried about that too. You'd think after 22 years my wife would recognize when I'm being sarcastic and when im serious, but she's so sensitive about stupid shit she's hard to talk to sometimes.

It only gets worse, much worse. 52 years and I have to deal with the wife misreading into my comments more every day. I'll never know how much of it is real and how much is feigned as part of a grander plan.

Frustrating to watch the cards win and not gain ground. Surprisingly they are closer to winning the division then wild card.

Yes. But winning the division would be great.
Cardinals AAA depth is really making the difference, at least for now.
As you may know, the Redbirds prevailed on their playoff series against Colorado Springs. They'll be back in Memphis Tuesday night. Diaz, Wisdom, and O'Neill each had a big game today. I am afraid that their pitching is getting pretty thin.

Winning the division isnt really a stupid thought at this point. It will likely boil down to how they play vs the cubs and brewers. They have 7 game and 3 games vs them respectfully. Interestingly enough the other games are against pit (3) and cin(6).
As much as it pains me i will give matheny credit for using his players. There has been a steady rotation lately and it has played a big part. Injuries has forced his hand a bit but i hope he is learning something.

On another note, it's nice to see the players justify the 4-year extension the Pirates gave to Hurdle by playing like the season is already over.

They reminded me of the Pirates of my youth. 1952-55. The PM (Pre-Mazeroski) Pirates.
I don't know if I've ever seen players not named Upton who come up as short of the potential as Marte and Polanco. I'll bet McCutheon dreads coming to the park every day.

The play that really stood out for me was Freese and the catcher jogging for a foul popup and then watching it hit the ground between them. Contrast that with Daniel Descalso diving to catch a popup that caromed off his pitcher's head a few weeks ago.

A line drive that Robbie Ray, or something like that, converted to a pop-up.

I think Ray got an assist.
