Launch angle baseball is painful to watch. I'm catching up on Animal Planet and ID programs and watching some movies for the 15th time on TCM and Fox movie channel.
I watched Ken Burns' Vietnam documentary on PBS, then finished off Breaking Bad, which I started binge-watching over the summer. And I can go to the gym anytime I want, because the only team I care about right now is the Bruins, and their games are available on the widescreen right there in the fitness center.
I've been boycotting Burns ever since his series on baseball that so sorely neglected Musial. Breaking Bad has no appeal for me but that's a combination of personal and generational. I don't think I would have watched baseball this past summer if there had been anything on t.v. that I really wanted to watch.

I thought the Baseball series was awful for a variety of reasons, starting with the title, which should have been "The Yankees, the Red Sox and the Negro Leagues" The Vietnam series was good. It drags in stretches, but the accounts from the soldiers were powerful.

That inning reminded me of the top of the eighth in the 2003 NLCS .... Oops. Sorry, Dusty.

If the Nats get knocked out, I doubt Dusty will be managing anywhere next season. But I can't tell you how much I'd love to see Matt Carpenter in his line-up somewhere.

More white guys clogging up the bases.

I'm done. I have to work tomorrow and then drive to Vermont for a couple of college visits this weekend. This game may still be in progress by the time I get back on Sunday anyway.

Wish I had seen that.

I just had an awful thought that the Yankees and the Cubs may end up in the World Series, which would involve a matchup of the two most obnoxious fan bases in the country. Except for Notre Dame football, of course.

I can say with confidence if I was on a team that was behind 3-0 in a 7-game series and one of my teammates hit the ball out of the park to make the score 1-0 in the second inning, I wouldn't be doing a home run dance.

Are the Yankees and dodger much better. I cant find teams to root for or against at this point.

I dunno. This Yankees team is quite the opposite of the Yankees teams of recent times. The key players on the team are young and not high priced free agents. The only thing that truly links them to the Yankees teams of the past is their ability to absorb bad contracts. They had quite a bit more salary sitting on their bench last night than they did in the lineup.

Im rooting against the cub just so i doing have to hear another year of gloating. Other then that i dont care.

I don't have a whole heck of a lot of issues with the players. I have a small cabal of Yankees' fans among my friends here in Red Sox country and they've awakened in all their obnoxiousness.

With a couple of exceptions, the Cubs have become cocky beyond belief. Again, the fucking Home Run Dance last night was absurd. Rizzo has developed a perma-sneer that's obnoxious. Baez is a total hot dog. Zobrist keeps chirping. If I were hitting .143 in the playoffs and got benched for Game 4, I'd probably want to keep my mouth shut so no one would notice me. And Strop is an utter clown.

Good night, Cubbies.

I haven’t watched much baseball, but I’m going to enjoy this last inning.

I haven't been watching any of the post season except when it can't be avoided. But I confess that I've been checking the box scores and following the game status in the each series. I pretty much agree with every point made here. There are two Yankees that I have no use for -- both ex-Cubs, for at least certain critical times. Castro and that Cuban relief pitcher who drives 100 mph in a 45 mph zone because he has to adapt to the culture. Otherwise, I'm O.k. with Yankees. For me, my main problem with the Yankees has always been the N.Y. based press.
When I noticed the score was 9-1 to9night, I had to watch. Joe Maddon is the guy that i like to see in this spot. Unfortunately, the announcers -- especially Ron Darling -- seem to be Cubs fans.

Ditto.

How do you allow your starter to give up 6 runs in 2 inning in an elimination game vs the best pitcher in baseball?

How dare you question Joe Maddon

"that Cuban relief pitcher who drives 100 mph in a 45 mph zone because he has to adapt to the culture"
My one comfort, and I'm not sure that's the right word, was that in order to win their first championship in more than a century, the Cubs had to sell their souls to acquire a wife-beating asshole who would be in prison if he couldn't throw a baseball 100 mph. And not only did Chapman leave three seconds after the trophy presentation, on his way out the door he had the temerity to question The Great Maddon's strategizing.
