I’m glad Lyons was able to get Votto, but that’s an example of a situation I hoped the addition of Maddux would have fixed.
Votto was hitting .500 with 2 HR against Lyons. Yesterday, I watched a bit of the Houston/Texas game. With the game on the line, Houston’s manager allowed Josh Reddick, a LH hitter bat against a LH pitcher because Reddick was hitting .270 against LH pitching while his only RH hitter on his bench was hitting .210 against lefties.
Matheny’s head would have exploded.

You just sat in the rain for more than five hours and watched the team that for the past quarter-century has pretty much owned the team you root for finish off a 4-game sweep and now you have to drive to your home in ... Cincinnati.

Idk if matheny is dumb or scared to face the media after letting a righty face a lefty. If he goes lefty on lefty and it goes bad he can fall back on just following the rules.

The Fowler deal is an awful contract they’re just going to have to eat. Wong’s deal doesn’t get too painful until 2020 when he makes $10M

Speaking of Fowler, Mercado went 2 for 3 last night in the Memphis loss, with a homer. Speaking of Wong, Schrock went 3 for 5 with a homer. Mercado is now hitting .341 and Schrock .408. And BTW, O'Neill is hitting 432 with 6 homers. Gant had a solid start but the Iowa Cubs got to Arturo Reyes big time.
