Nice way to wake up this morning. Had to tap out. Not sleep in 48 hours and all i was doing as napping through the game. Missed a good one though. Always nice to walk up to a victory.

Cardinals have 4 games with the padres, 2 with the twins, 4 with the phillies and 3 with the royals. Thats a pretty weak schedule. Only the phillies have a winning record and i dont think they are for real. Winning 9 games out of 13th should be a realistic goal.

Don't do it, AP. They're not that good.

I'm not sure what my favorite part of the weekend was. The Lizard King pitching seven scoreless, Ozuna tying Saturday's game in the ninth, Wong's walkoff homer, the look on Lester's face when Heyward lost Wong's line drive in the lights, or the Cubs' fan waving his "W" flag in the bleachers just before Fouler hit the walkoff homer on Sunday.

Im not proclaiming anything. Thats a weak ass schedule. If you dont gain 3 or 4 games in the plus .500 margin during a stretch like that then it is pretty telling.

In between their usual and expected dry humping of the Cubs, the broadcast crew last night managed to discuss for about 60 seconds how optimistic the Cardinals and their fans ought to be because the Cardinals are in first place though Carpenter and Fouler are hitting under .200.
I don't see it. The Cardinals are in first place because they've played the Reds six more times than the Cubs have so far. I could get into the laundry list of reasons why the Cardinals are so mediocre, but I'm in a good mood today because the Cardinals swept the Cubs, even though last night's game went until 2 a.m. and I'm exhausted.

September looks to be the hardest month on the cardinals schedule. It is way to early to celebrate the cardinals being in first place. However this is a stretch where the team can build some wins to offset future slumps. They also have a stretch of 9 games vs Miami, reds, and padres prior to the all star break.
At the end of the year the difference will be winning a mjority of those series vs bad teams and not getting swept by teams like the pirates. Winning one of those 3 games should have been a task this team should be able to accomplish.
