“That’s how you should teach your kids to slide and break up a double play,” said the Cubs’ condescending, disingenuous manager Joe Maddon. “The catcher’s gotta clear a path.”
Maddon, of course, is the same guy who watched one of his players (Chris Coghlan) destroy Jung Ho Kang’s knee a few years ago and then flippantly wonder afterward if Kang was suffering from “Plantar fasciitis.”
God, what a jerk.

And can’t you just imagine your kid’s next Little League practice ...
Coach: “OK, boys, if you ever see the catcher make a force play at home and try to throw to first, change your path and crash into the back of his leg while he’s totally defenseless. Make sure you don’t hit the dirt until after you’ve slammed into his leg.”
Parent: “But isn’t that kind of dangerous?”
Coach: “Maybe, but Joe Maddon says it’s the way to play, regardless of the rules, and he invented baseball.”
