My TV went out, my internet went out, and the home phone hasn't been working for a week.
Other than that, I'm extremely satisfied with Comcast.

You still have a home phone? I thought those things were extinct in urban areas. Or outlawed.

For reasons I can't and don't want to fathom, Comcast's monthly charge is less if you "bundle" TV, internet and phone, rather than getting just TV and internet.
My home phone is basically a paperweight. The only person who really calls our home phone is my dad. My mother-in-law used to call the home phone, but I've apparently done something to offend her and I joined the list of people to whom she's not talking, so she just calls my wife's cell.

She knows as much about baseball as she does about everything else, which is enough to allow her to say something nonsensical or derogatory. I've known the woman for nearly 30 years and I've never heard her laugh. Or seen her smile. I'm serious. She's completely bereft of humor and joy.
The latest episode goes like this: She wanted to contribute what will end up being about 2 percent of the cost of my son's college education, through a college savings program. In a vacuum, it would be a decent gesture, but this is how she operates. She offers just enough money to get her foot in the door and then she demands complete oversight over the process. When we bought our first home, she offered to contribute 50 percent of the down payment. We were young and relatively poor at the time, so we accepted her money. She proceeded to dominate every aspect of the transaction thereafter, from brow-beating the home inspector to getting into an argument with the seller's real estate agent at the closing. I vowed to never take another nickel from her again. She started the college savings plan without telling anyone. She wanted to make it a surprise at my son's high school graduation party, which of course was her way to trying to make the party about her. So now she's stuck with a couple thousand dollars in an account she can only use to pay college tuition, and she's resenting me.

Sounds to me like a good opportunity for her to further her education. Maybe take a class on baseball so she has something to talk with you about.

She was raised in an orthodox Jewish household at a time when Jewish families didn't place any value on education for women. They were supposed to get married and have babies. She had to watch her parents, who were affluent, send her younger brother off to college while she stayed home. She married a very sick man who died when my wife was 6, so she was basically a single parent with only a high school education and no marketable skills. She managed to land a decent job at General Electric as a secretary, but she ceded the care of her daughter to her parents, who for all intents and purposes were the ones who raised my wife. Which was a good thing because my wife is nothing like my mother-in-law. I suppose under different circumstances one might feel sorry for her, but all I've ever known her as is a resentful, self-centered, mean-spirited, bitter old hen. And after her father died about 15 years ago, she committed herself to Judaism and was Bar Mitzvahed, so she's added the certainty of her version of religion to her list of annoying traits.

So she never remarried after her first husband died? Maybe she just needs dick?

No, but not for lack of trying. One of her more annoying traits is telling anyone who will listen how difficult it is to be alone. When my wife and I started dating, she was dating a guy who was a contractor at GE. But he lived in Rhode Island and they could never come to an agreement on where to live. So she dumped him and less than a year later he got married to someone else. Which made her even angrier.
She's what Dave Attell would describe as unfuckable. As soon as she opens her mouth, it's over.

So it is her lack of vitamin D! I think we all know what you need to do. If you love your family or your country.
