He got his money's worth.
Somewhere, Matheny is probably praying for his soul.

Yeah, I thought he was doomed when Cuzzi decided to get involved, but they let him have his say. There had to be some kind of response after four guys got hit. Ned Yost is a prick.

Probably about the same time Shildt told the plate umpire "That's fucking bullshit, and you know it!"

I'm starting to think the job is Schildt's to lose. By all accounts, the players really respect his method of managing (i.e., the open lines of communication). Apparently Maddux's input on pitching decisions (when to pull someone, who to use, etc...) is finally being respected. There's a bit of a buzz among the fans because of the style of play that's being employed and even the fact that Schildt took a stand for his players and dropped a few f-bombs is getting rave reviews.
I know it's a small sample size, and it's dangerous to make assumptions based on small sample sizes, but the 25 games under Schildt might be the biggest indictment of Matheny's job as the manager.

Matheny wouldnt of retaliated.
Im trying not to get ahead of myself because it seems two things boast a team temporarily. New managers and youth. Cards have got both going for them right now. But it is hard to to like what i see.
